How did it get to be 5 PM? I _just_ sat down to work, wrote 10ish emails, scheduled three meetings, messaged the Board President and got a "go ahead", made two social media posts with appropriate photos, had one 30 min phone meeting, did my EOM for December & submitted staff timesheets.

Someone wise once taught me that each emotion has a wisdom to it. Sharing since some/all of these feel very "up" today, in me and in the world.

Fear = pay attention
Anger = something precious needs protecting
Grief = accept what cannot be changed
Joy = life is short and miraculous

OK! I'm going to port over my #worldbuildingthreads from that other place. I'm also going to figure out somewhere to stick them outside a social media platform. This'll take a while!

Very excellent points in this little thread.
Not coping well w/ the events of the world. My therapist says empathy, just like anxiety, has to have boundaries. Otherwise both spin out of control. He said empathy’s boundary is compassion & compassion is actionable. We’re not meant to physically FEEL the pain of EVERYTHING around us. It’d kill us

We're alive to love things, learn things, and make things. That's it. That's our whole task in our short bright flash of life. Love, learn, and create. The more love, learning, and making stuff you put in the world - the love, harmony, beauty, justice, compassion and mercy of existence - the better.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

On the off chance you might want to make little drawstring bags of your own, I've put my directions in the alt text!

In light of yesterday's stirring performance by Lucy Dacus in NYC, here's an article by my colleague Robert Forrant on the 1912 "Bread and Roses" Strike in Lawrence, Mass. #SolidarityForever

Ok, #ListenToJonaya, and let's talk about this.
I missed the networking discourse, did anyone talk about the fact that during BLM Black creators and academics were reached out to in record numbers and then when we thought we had solidarity it vanished? Which led to many folks suffering representational burn out and distrust for ttrpgs as a whole?

Playing a social deduction game game yesterday made me think a lot about how rules can make people feel ignorant or unobservant or left out, and if that needs to be the case. The rule was SUPER simple, and yet not getting it was bringing people to the edge of tears & giving up & feeling Really Bad.

It was reprehensible when people mocked condom usage at the height of the AIDS pandemic.

It is just as depraved to mock those wearing masks to reduce the spread of airborne viruses today.

Whenever someone takes any kind of step to protect public health, they should be applauded, not mocked.

Wild that in 1890 we had a robust system of railroads, street railroads & trolleys that reached deep into very rural areas from the Mississippi to the Atlantic & everyone used it all the time. I wonder what industry invested HEAVILY in dismantling such a massive & effective infrastructure? Mr. Ford?
My whole life we’ve been told that The US is simply too big to have high speed rail
