Archivist and all around pop culture nerd. Plus I like to write about archives and archivists in pop culture! I'm a real catch! I can probably talk about other things. Maybe.

Doing a quick check. I, a professional archivist, also call them bankers boxes on occasion. Am I missing something here? #GLAMS 📜

Like I said, I love the #TMNT a normal amount. So much that I snagged a b-day gift for myself from Andy Suriano and he went above and beyond! This is the digital version, the physical piece is en route! #rottmnt

New #archivist just dropped and he never forgets. Until he conveniently forgets something. #CatDetectiveAlbertWilde 📜

My sister's bday gifts to me.

And that's all I got! Needed to get that out of my head so I can move on with my life! Feel free to chime in!

Also, TL;DR, I need someone to draw me the #RotTMNT #TMNT in the gorintō.

To his sons, Splinter is an unpredictable force in their life. Not always present, but inserts himself in their lives when it suits him. He kept his entire life before being mutated to himself, which put his whole family in danger, but he still carried that emptiness with him becoming depressed AF.
January 12, 2025 at 12:24 AM
Splinter's story is one of potential wasted or hidden away. The Hamato clan is tasked with protecting the world from the Shredder, but young Hamato Yoshi neglects that duty to become famous. Once his sons begin to encounter signs of the Shredder emerging he realizes he's neglected to prepare them.
January 12, 2025 at 12:24 AM
Rise's version of Splinter is less of a wise sensei and more of a depressed man still dealing with the fact that he used to be Lou Jitsu, star of martial arts films until he was captured, used, and mutated. Definitely the most absent father version, but no less loving of his sons.
January 12, 2025 at 12:24 AM
And last, but not least, Splinter (Eric Bauza), father and teacher to his sons, who represents Void or Heaven. This one might be the most Your Mileage May Vary, but I think it works.

On the gorintō wind/air represents, of all things, freedom of movement and expansion, and is associated with open-mindedness, being carefree, and evasiveness, which we've covered. Everything about Leo is based on speed and showmanship, from his fighting to his rapid fire jokes.
January 12, 2025 at 12:01 AM
During the series, Leo wields an odachi, a giant sword that allows him to create portals. His overarching issue with his abilities is the portals are unreliable due to his lack of confidence, but once he comes to terms with that, he's able to use his portals to move swiftly across the battlefield.
January 12, 2025 at 12:01 AM
Since he isn't the leader right off the bat, Leo is the team's "faceman" with the silver tongue and each brother's biggest hype man. He's a showoff with a love of closeup magic or Houdini-esque tricks and an inferiority complex a mile long. He's all about deflection and misdirection.
January 12, 2025 at 12:01 AM
And that brings us to Leonardo (Ben Schwartz), the second half of the middle child duo, who represents wind/air. The usual placement for Leo is in water because he's the leader, the dedicated student and son, who can adapt easily because of his skills.

THIS version of Leo is all wind, baby!

Fire on the gorintō represents passion, drive, energy, and is associated with motivation, desire, and an outgoing personality. All of it describes Mikey perfectly. As the family chef and artist, he also acts as the family therapist, bringing out his Dr. Feelings persona to "help" when needed.
January 11, 2025 at 11:24 PM
This version of Mikey is probably the most creative of his brothers, showing skills as an artist and a chef, as well as the most profound connection to his mystic abilities. Mikey activates his weapon first and, by the events of the movie, has a future as a great mystic warrior.
January 11, 2025 at 11:24 PM
Next is Michelangelo (Brandon Mychal Smith), the baby brother representing fire! From the outset, this was a no-brainer once Mikey obtained his new weapon, a kusari-fundo, that literally lit itself on fire when Mikey tapped into his abilities.
January 11, 2025 at 11:24 PM
Water on the gorintō is all about adaptability, change, and is associated with thought, flexibility, and fluidity. As the science guy on the team, Donnie understands the need to change and adapt to make his creations work. His tech also tends to morph as needed, making it appear fluid in execution.
