One thing you can say about the act of making love is that it has managed to stay pretty cool even though we now have five different versions of the Sony PlayStation

Foreign Policy Analysis is low key the darkly funniest field ever now. Are we at war? Does the president himself know? Who are we at war with? Why? Something to do with drugs and/or oil? We’re either invading Venezuela, Nigeria, neither, or both.
Either Trump believes the US struck a Venezuelan facility on Christmas Eve because he was told that erroneously, or he's conflating different stories, or we actually did what he claims. Regardless of explanation, we need that information.

People who sympathize with Israel over Palestine voted for Trump by a 48 point margin.

The competition is fierce but I think "Thanks, Dearborn" has to be the dumbest Dem scapegoating line in modern history

Wow I can't believe a few people in one city are responsible for Harris losing every swing state and the popular vote. Sounds like they're really influential and it was extremely stupid not to earn their support!

I have a lot of respect for the Knives Out movies just as an exercise in people making solid B+ level entertainment where everyone seems to be enjoying the experience without it needing it to win Oscar’s or make 3 billion dollars. It’s like going to a good steakhouse.

Oversimplifying things a bit, but this feels downstream of DOGE.

Remember DOGE? That was going to get rid of all the fraud and waste in the government, enough to balance the budget and get you a refund check. Didn't work, but maybe if we remove all the foreign-born health workers...
The largest generation in U.S. history is in their 70s now. And Stephen Miller’s podcaster wife thinks it’s suspicious that there’s a huge surge in home health aides.

something very important for Dems to realize is that the tech overlords are not people you can win back by promising a lighter touch and saying a few nice things

they’ve gotten a taste of mask-off fascism and they are not going back, they don’t want to play nice with the peons anymore
There’s a funny Politico story showing that the latest polling on AI shows 80-20 in favor of heavy regulations, an absolute slam dunk platform, but Dems are worried about not winning back mask-off tech CEO donors

In the next four years you’ll see a lot of New York Post articles about City Hall that don’t make sense when you read them as an outsider because they’re just permission to hit the anger button in the reader’s brain. This is about seeing someone non-binary in power and getting permission to be mad.

stop desecrating important touchstones in the canon with your slop cannon. these are not In Conversation with the original works, nor are they works that were inspired by them. to say they're shallow hack jobs appropriating cultural cachet is an insult to bootleg dealers and forgeries.

the coal stuff is so annoying because it’s literally not even cost competitive with renewables

it’s just vice signaling as energy policy

also it’s kind of crazy how democratic politicians bend over backwards to support deep red rural areas while republicans constantly dunk on blue states

Yeah this is a key thing: we literally do not see the night sky with the same intensity and regularity that premodern people did!
If you ever have the experience of seeing a night sky out in the deep countryside you can understand this; it really is a fundamentally different experience, and I can't imagine it not being formative to people.
