A normal person: This is just a slightly different set of rules to simulate reality. There is no need to explain why maces do a point less of damage now.

Forgotten Realms writers: Torm’s gerbil got smashed by a mace so he used his god powers to punish mace users.

my favorite low-stakes conspiracy theory slash RPF headcanon is the idea that Billy Joel is unable to tell when things are gay

like an obviously gay man told him “lol guess I never had time for a wife!” and Billy nodded somberly like “got it” and just wrote it down verbatim
the tumblr post hypothesizing that Billy is the only one who doesn’t know this is a gay bar lives in my head rent-free

just a guileless Long Island himbo looking around going “wow all these men’s lives are so mysterious, what makes them tick” and they’re all like “… man, what are YOU doing here”

No. This is somewhere to be. This is all you have, but it's still something. Streets and sodium lights. The sky, the world. You're still alive.

The thing that’s fucking me up the most is that I had to spend the entirely of my late 20’s thinking about Donald Trump and now I have to spend the time until I’m forty years old doing it. If you include the time between, that’s over a quarter of my life.

In my experience having spent much of my life surrounded by people bent on my political destruction, the most irritating thing you can do to them is have an inner life and protect whatever peace you can have.

19. Be careful with what to say and whom you say it to. That is not to say that you should submit in advance to restrictions on speech. What I'm saying is show kindness, empathy, and politesse generously and give serious trust stingily. This is not a low risk environment any more.

6. Your misfortunes are not real unless they are happening to you right the fuck now. Do not stress out over things that are not happening. Act & plan to minimize the expected number of bad things that will happen, but do not turn yourself into an anxious wreck worrying about what you can't control.

I don’t know what to do with my hopes and dreams now that it’s clear they don’t matter. I don’t know what anyone could have done differently, and I don’t know how anything that any of us do can matter. It doesn’t feel like there’s a future for all of us.

I've heard a hypothesis that humans have evolved to find calming pleasure in birdsong because it signals safety: If the birds are singing, there are no predators or dangers around.

Someday I'll write (more poetically than this) about how I've come to think of visibly queer people as songbirds.

Well, now that we can do video, it means this video can be posted here, which apparently started over on the other site. Noah Garfinkel noticed that Trump's claim about eating cats and dogs fits with the Peanuts theme song & then someone made a longer version of it.

Before it gets lost to history, I want to note that this immediate endorsement—which appears a day later to have nearly unified the Democratic Party—wasn’t foreordained. It wasn’t what Pelosi, Obama, the NYT ed board, or the Pod Save America bros said they wanted. Biden did it. His critics didn’t.
Biden endorses Harris.

Here is the full and unified case for sticking with Biden:

1) Polling strength. This may sound absurd, but Biden has some very significant polling advantages that may or may not be shared by other candidates. Biden does well with old people and independents, while his recent weakness is driven...

ive seen nothing today to dissuade me from my belief that big money donors, if given this power, will never relinquish it.
If anyone wants an example of what AOC was talking about/why Martin Heinrich just called for Biden to drop out, this passage from Wednesday's NYT offers a doozy.
