They are going down the list of amendments now. And the entire ICE action is the most obvious violation of the Fourth Amendment this country has ever seen.

The amount of money that is currently going to fund immigration enforcement in the US is larger than the military budgets of every country in the world other than the US and China. We are witnessing a military assault on American cities by a wildly unpopular governing party.

DHS hired exactly who they wanted to hire and trained them to do exactly what they wanted them to do. Which is what you see.

He could have gotten Blagojavc’s coverage.

He could have gotten Roy Moore’s coverage.

He could have gotten Mark Foley’s coverage.

He could have gotten David Duke’s coverage.

Or even Joe Biden’s coverage!

He didn’t get any of those things.

Maybe the most fascinating belief among the billionaire class, especially the Silicon Valley set, has been their confidence that if they blow up the specific conditions and institutions that put them on top, they will certainly come out even higher on top
Congratulations to all the bankers, hedge-fund managers, private-equity honchos, tech titans, corporate executives and op-ed writers for backing the man who will do more to undermine the system that made them insanely wealthy than any other presidential candidate in their lifetimes.
Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell said the US central bank had been served grand jury subpoenas from the Justice Department threatening a criminal indictment, a dramatic escalation of the Trump administration’s attacks on the Fed.

The tragic death of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year old mother fatally shot by ICE, shows that ICE can’t be reformed and must be abolished.

I’ll be introducing the Abolish ICE Act as a step toward justice, accountability, and humanity in our immigration policy.

Time to melt ICE.

Stephen Colbert on the ICE murder of Renee Nicole Good: “The message from this administration is clear. Only they determine the truth. And when their forces come to your city: obey or die. And if you die, you clearly didn’t obey. This should be an alarm bell for the entire country.”

This is the kind of proposal that's equal to the demands of the moment:
The Judiciary Act of 2029: new fed district court with exclusive j/d to try the crimes of the previous Admin, appealable only to the new Court of Superior Appeals, which itself is also the new appellate court over the 13 Circuits, and strip SCOTUS of all but original j/d (ie no more appellate jd)

Pro tip: if your Mayor or your City Council are talking tough about ICE, demand that they take steps to limit local cops from sharing surveillance data with ICE.

If they don't, they're full of shit.

Right. The point is not “it matters extra because it’s a citizen,” the point is “we either hang together or we will all hang separately.”
i think it is ok to reiterate that the victim as a us citizen. yes, noncitizens are equally entitled to human rights. but also, it's important to illustrate how ice isn't about immigration at all

And this is an accurate statement, not an exaggeration. All of the parts of that tweet are not only technically accurate at every level, it is a meaningfully accurate description. Straightforwardly true. And so many would laugh in your face for saying it
I hate to break it to you, but heavily-armed government militias are roaming unchecked through US cities and shooting human rights observers dead in the streets. That's happening in our country.

one takeaway from the grok noncon porn thing is that much of the media just isn't interested in an issue they can't pretend has two sides or that doesn't give them an opportunity to shit on the left. Also it would be uncomfortable to justify remaining on twitter after acknowledging it

Once again, a mere handful of people in Washington could caucus today with the Democrats & put an end to ~90% of the worst things immediately.

They even have names: bsky.app/profile/mcop...

We should stop giving these people free passes every day & yell at them like everyone yells at Democrats.
This puts the GOP at 218 with a shutdown coming.

If Trump is really stealing spending power from Congress then it would be insanity for Democrats to vote to fund the government later this month. Shut it down until the president stops wiping his ass with the Constitution.

yep. i can identify any number of structural issues but at the end of the day the basic problem is the republican party. this has been apparent for at least 20 years. it is also an incredibly unpopular observation to make among “serious” people.
Right.

If you want a good explanation of why the American system of government worked well enough for 200 years and then suddenly stopped, it's because Republicans in Congress suddenly started letting their partisan interests COMPLETELY override their institutional interests
a lot of problems wouldn't exist if we had a congress with even an ounce of self interest
