I had short hair for most of my twenties and of course I wore winter hats then too, but now that I have hair down to my waist again and have surrendered to putting it up and then putting the hat over the clip, I feel like this

mine is nobody killed the princes in the tower. one of them died of illness while living in sanctuary with his mom and the other went to burgundy
I think everyone has approximately the same amount of conspiracy energy, and if you don’t dissipate it decoding taylor swift lyrics or debugging linux drivers, it inevitably comes out as beliefs about faked moon landings

Ahmed al Ahmed, the man who tackled one of the Bondi killers, became an Australian citizen 3 years ago.

His deed was "his way of conveying his gratitude for staying in Australia, for being granted citizenship."

He took 5 bullets, and fears he'll lose his left arm.

I feel like someone finally said “people will call this Girl Holes for the rest of time” and they finally canned it
Gender-swapped ‘Holes’ TV series has been canceled at Disney

It would’ve followed the same story — with the detention camp kids reimagined as female

using "drunkards" over "slaveowners" and still invoking the idea that a colonial bloodline grants you a deeper connection to this country... oh my god. there's not helping your case and then there's whatever this is
I mean it quite literally, I have multiple named ancestors whose signatures are on the constitution, and a lot of them were drunkards and shitheads yeah but at least they knew to keep church and state separate.

Forever.

it took literally like what. three, four responses from you? before you went blood and soil on it. it doesn't matter that you mean that secularly or whatever. you are not immune to the thought processes you criticize (apparently a lot less immune than average, tbh). please grow & change as a person.
Yeah I mean if they want to huddle down in their bland suburban homes dribbling on about their little stories just to keep to themselves then whatever but the problem is these idiots are performing a hostile takeover of the country I live in and that my bloodline is tied to the foundation of.

I shouldn't have to keep qualifying that I'm not religious either but it's actually jarring how many of these people I see going off about their disdain for it turn out to be some of the most complacent, incurious repeaters of their own received dogmas I've ever seen

intrinsically linking being smart with being good (and the idea that if someone isn't "smart", it's a personal failure) is fascist, sorry. like don't get me wrong, I'm aware of religion being used the same way. I won't deny that. I'm just saying, nonbeliever to nonbeliever, that you're no better.
If those "certain ideas" are ridiculous supernatural bullshit that people use to worsen the lives of others then yeah they need to shed those qualities.

Adults globally need to start getting smarter.

My wife was pregnant when we went to see Fury Road and the part with the Doof Warrior was the first time she felt the baby kick
When I took Husb to see Mad Max: Fury Road by dragging him to the last theatre playing it in London just after he got off the Eurostar. When the film pans over the entire War Party, Husb turned to me and whispered "this film is awesome!" I said "just wait!"

Then the guitar flamethrower happened.
Raising the always fun question: What are your most memorable theater-going experiences?

Mine also include The Matrix, Blair Witch, and being way too stoned in Belgium when Fellowship of the Ring was sold out so we sat in the back row for Mulholland Drive instead.

Great article about how David Lynch’s art beared witness to suffering and offered compassion in a brutal world. Lynch’s death was like a light that was extinguished — a light that showed the barbarism but also the empathy of humanity.
