New Yorkers deserve better than a disgraced sex pest for mayor.

I think about this from Victor Serge a lot.

The thing about Kathy Hochul is I don't think she's much of an ideologue and she's not overly loyal to the old guard and I believe she would very much like to stay in power. We can work with that.
Interesting that NY gov Kathy Hochul felt compelled to put out a statement against Dems' deal to end the shutdown

Look at this new outrage. To open govt, we're retroactively letting 8 Senators sue for $500K each over having had their J6 phone toll records looked at. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/10/u...

Maybe these don't land. I think Nixon could win Nadler's old seat if she ran but the other two are longshots. The real shovelhook to the gut that drops them might come from AOC against Schumer, but that has to wait three years unfortunately. We need to do *something.* It's just a question of what.

So in that sense there is a case to be made for a one-two-three combination of someone like Cynthia Nixon landing a solid jab to teach Cuomo to keep his distance, a textbook cross from someone like Lander to win the round against Goldman, and the uppercut from Chi for the knockout.

I'm not fully on board with this strategy yet but I don't think it's bad for New York. Chi is good but NYC's local politics is going well right now and it's positively influencing the state. However, our federal delegation is absolutely awful and it's dragging the whole country down with it.

Let me tell you something very relevant to know: @chiosse.bsky.social is one of a very few members of the council to move a big, truly important bill to passage in decades.

He banned broker fees for renters, which were an outrageous rip off that cost millions of NYers big money.
Hakeem Jeffries is about to get a primary challenger.

@chiosse.bsky.social will reportedly make an announcement about this in the coming weeks.

This would be an exceedingly difficult race for anyone and not really comparable to the mayor's race (open primary against disgraced governor vs challenge against reasonably popular youngish incumbent/highest ranking House Dem) BUT Ossé is extremely impressive and I'm excited to see what he can do.

there are orgs that have real online organizing programs. @workingfamilies.org has a great virtual program. I know there are others too. Especially in disability justice.

seems to me that those democrats inclined not to fight perceive themselves as living through a somewhat ordinary cycle of presidential overreach and backlash and not something much more significant and dangerous

A one year-old was pepper sprayed in a car with her parents by an armed, masked federal agent, and Dick Durbin is more concerned with "how the Senate works"
And the truly craziest thing abt this cave is that someone seeing the invasion of Chicago firsthand, Dick Durbin, doesn't understand this.

Primary them all, not just the ones overtly doing the horrible things. The establishment has completely abandoned the American people. And that happened a long time ago, this is just the latest gross example.

Let’s be clear: Chuck Schumer is the one ending this shutdown, no matter how the votes read.

Chuck Schumer is claiming that he’s voting no, while letting other Senators (Fetterman, Kaine, King, etc) do HIS dirty work.

He must be removed from his leadership & primaried for the sake of this country

The coordinated nature of this—none are facing voters in 2026—means that either Schumer approved it or failed in his job as Senate Majority Leader to stop it.

Dems voting "no" get zero credit until they demand a change in leadership. Schumer out as Leader, Durbin out as Whip.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.

“Democrats care more about business class than the working class.” Progressive copywriters can have that one for free.
My low key conspiracy is that every billionaire democratic donor who saw a flight or a friend's flight out of Tetoboro cancelled on Friday forced this result on Schumer. This was not about helping people it was about helping the donor class not have any minor disruption of their life.
