If you think the anxiety and dislocation caused by net immigration is real, it is nothing compared to mass emigration

We lived in a pub when I was growing up and when I was 3 (50 years ago!) we had someone in to draw the pub for a business card. I sat next to him and watched him draw every line. I was transfixed and it was a huge inspiration for me. I’ve dreamt about owning that drawing for years…

At some point, for the love of God, will someone ANYONE at long last take the council funding crisis seriously?!?

Because THIS is what will break down a society, not some poor soul escaping incredible dangers, arriving on our shores.

One thing I never see much discussion about in the media when it comes to education is the pastoral care that good schools and teachers provide. So many children would be so much unhappier if it wasn’t for teachers caring enough to take those duties seriously and make them a priority.
Spending time visiting primary schools always leaves me feeling in awe of the teachers. They do *so* much for their pupils, often under incredibly challenging and stressful circumstances

Irony of ironies. "Shorn of defectors to Reform, Conservative loyalists are relatively moderate on immigration, Europe and climate change. The much diminished band of Tory supporters includes a significant minority who remain loyal to the party’s moderate, inclusive, internationalist traditions."
The divisions in his ranks that threaten Farage
Keir Starmer is not the only leader with problems. Reform is attracting two different tribes of new supporters. Their unity may not last

Headline from a serious and long working paper on the economic impact of Brexit. Possible that this has been feeding into OBR and HMT discussions?

A runner going past me stops when his phone rings, says, ‘Oh no I didn’t forget the meeting, I’m here’ into his phone, frantically searches his bag for an earpod, finally pulls something out and sticks it in his ear only to discover it is in fact, a cashew nut.

Elon Musk is deliberately using his platform to poison our politics and divide our country.

It's time for the government to wake up to the threat he poses to our democracy.

We just defeated Nigel Farage’s Bill in Parliament to tear up people’s rights and withdraw from the ECHR.

Farage wants to do away with the Britain Churchill built and turn it into a version of Trump's America. We stopped him.

Walk along a country lane and you’re taking your life in your hands. Slow down going past pedestrians? What an odd idea. Too many people spend too long in cars to realise just how disturbing it is to have a couple of tonnes of metal go past at 30mph.

We are living through one of the costs of Brexit; lack of institutional restraint leaves your laws prey to lunatic far right populism, in the form of both Reform and Tory policies on mass deportation of legal residents.

you can currently claim at least partial child benefits if you're earning up to 80k so that would be, in theory.......basically all parents on ILR and settled status? wtaf
Here Lam explicitly sets out her proposal - which is official Conservative Party policy - to deport long-standing legal permanent residents who have *ever* claimed any benefit, including the state pension or child benefit (even if the child is British), or who earn less than £39K.

Will COVID-19 vaccines still be used in the future?

Seems like a strange question. Short answer: probably mostly in the elderly. But it’s more nuanced; it’s not primarily about preventing COVID-19 anymore.

Mussolini boasted about being a rapist by the time he was 17. He preyed on hundreds of women and girls.
Sexual abuse is rife in authoritarians. They think the whole world is their harem. No one stops them.
History kinda glosses over that Hitler was a pedophile obsessed with his own niece Geli Raubal who he pretty much kept as a prisoner in his home until she took her own life, or for that matter how young Eva Braun was when they first met.

Nazis were always just like that it seems.
It’s funny how the old media depiction of Nazis was always that they’re evil but dignified gentleman and now they’re openly just like “Hello. I’m the Anime Pedophile”

In Wales, Cornwall, Edinburgh, London and so many places when most 30mph roads were changed to 20mph, people injured or killed by motor vehicles reduced by 20%+. With minimal change to journey times and £2bn saving in insurance costs it's a huge win. bit.ly/4gIBPlJ

Just to say that teachers do an incredibly difficult job, with all the right intentions, and can be the defining influence on a young person's life. They are the exact opposite of poisoners because good teaching provides the antidote to so many dangers
