Pragmatism. Is that all you have to offer?
One of the reasons this doesn’t feel real is “The US-Denmark War over Greenland” absolutely feels like a news chyron at the bottom of the screen in the opening of some post-apocalypse film.

Either that, or a Wikipedia article that survives untouched for six years despite being completely invented.

Man goes to doctor.

Says “doctor, I am depressed, life just seems like hollow joke”.
Doctor says “well, whatever you do, don’t go see the so-called ‘great’ clown Pagliacci at the circus, I took my wife last night and boy does he suck ass, the idio…why are you crying?”

We could also add his world historic unpopularity - a lot of which isn’t his fault, but still. But - nevertheless - do think there’s a confusion being made by some between “how to handle Trump”, a question which has no real good answer, and “how to let the public know things are now where they are”
Some of this is just vibes, sadly. However, a man whose approach to selling spending cuts was 'things will get worse' probably doesn't have what it takes to communicate the seismic changes happening in the world to the public.

Anyway, if I were the Labour press team I would be digging up absolutely every single positive thing Nigel has said about Donald, every photo of the two of them hanging out etc etc and I would be preparing to dump it like a bucket of cold sick over his head.

“We fucked up, but also we fucked up. Show some solidarity”
I am not here for Europeans telling me Americans don't know how crazy things are. The Nazis are killing people over here at the moment so we're busy but thanks for the input. I had hoped for solidarity but I suppose I'll have to settle for sneering condescension instead.

This is correct.
Versailles was nowhere near harsh enough, that's why it failed, and anyone who says otherwise is basically a Nazi apologist

Is it really a big intervention to state Green Party policy?

I think newspapers should definitely invite these two to continue their feud in their pages, I can see no downsides for their respective parties

Regular readers of my posts will guess I try to keep positive, keep cheery. But every so often a little chill runs through my soul as I realise somewhere out there someone - it could be someone you or I know, even someone we love - someone is writing topical poetry. Aren’t we better than this?

So how should Europe divvy up the USA after conquest? Imho the Welsh should get Pennsylvania, keep the tradition going.

It’s because Farage did the Quisling thing
Keir Starmer often takes 2-3 days to issue very mild criticism of US actions. This is both direct and issued fast.

I think there is a serious risk that the US miscalculated quite what a big deal the Greenland thing is to Europe (and in Europe).
NEW - Starmer says US "completely wrong" in threatening tariffs over Greenland

Thing is, this is the only play she could make in response to Jenrick doing “the tories broke Britain”, it’s the sane response, it’s the right response and it’s entirely at odds with the voters she’s been chasing for 14 months

Tried some of those asparagus spears the other day. Honestly, would not recommend, they break on first contact, your shield wall is never going to hold off a Viking charge armed with those.

The hill I will die on is that defectors should not have to call a by-election while we are still in FPTP. You elect representatives not party delegates
After having his defection ambushed, Robert Jenrick could have got onto front-foot by calling a by-election. He could dramatise his claims about a democratic shift in the right. He would have a more credible case about risk > personal ambition

(I also think he would have won it pretty comfortably)

The bloke who alway speaks to the times calling for Ed to be sacked is now speaking to the times calling for Wes to be sacked, it appears
Genuinely baffling. Focus is onTory-Reform fighting, giving Labour breathing space and opportunity to look like grown ups in the room - so some Labour cabinet members decide better strategy is to brief and mimic infighting - to what? Wrest the chaos narrative back? 🤦‍♂️
