Recently learned that you can do "blueprint" printing quite economically. Large scale color Pompeii (36x48) for $12. The rest under $10 each.

They are already making great teaching aids!

Neil Innes/RUTLAND WEEKEND TELEVISION appreciation thread

Never seen the whole thing as it wasn't shown in this parish, but Innes and Idle complemented each other very well, regardless of later happenings.
There have been many attempts at lampooning Elton John over the years, but the brilliance in Neil Innes' approach from RUTLAND WEEKEND TELEVISION is to emulate Elton's musicianship while gently ribbing the oft-times endearingly flowery/nonsensical nature of Bernie Taupin's lyrics...

Bishop: [beating altar] UNAM SANCTAM II, UNAM SANCTAM II, UNAM SANCTAM II!
The U.S. bishops defended migrant families. Tom Homan snapped. Nan Hayworth called Pope Leo a “tool of our enemies.” Tim Burchett accused the church of getting rich off of sex trafficking.

Matt Walsh, Lara Logan, and the rest joined in. This is what MAGA anti-Catholicism looks like.
“Pope Leo Is a Tool of Our Enemies”: Homan Leads MAGA Attacks as Hayworth, Others Pile On
It’s the latest MAGA attack on Pope Leo’s pro-immigrant stance. Disgraced border chief Tom Homan — caught taking a $50,000 bribe in a Cava takeout bag — led the charge against Leo and the bishops.

The Guardian gave Goodwin lots of space in the 2010s to whitewash racism as Legitimate Concerns, imbue those Concerns with faux working class authenticity, and denigrate anti racism as the bleatings of a cosmopolitan elite. Its a bit late to start Noticing now.

In addition to everything else here (OGLAF is great; read OGLAF!), this is how I (a) learn that Americans don't know the great FOOTROT FLATS ('FÆHUNDEN' round our way) and (b) realize that I haven't read it in decades.

Never read that many comics, but I used to be fascinated by the art in that.
A rare interview with the creators of the always-funny, always-brilliant, and *usually*-sexy—or occasionally anti-sexy—OGLAF!

Cooper has kept a low profile over the years, but is legitimately one of the very best artists in comics today. Read OGLAF if you're old enough to drive!
Talking Oglaf with Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne: 'We'd stay up all night drawing stuff to make each other laugh' - The Comics Journal
Other than some time off every year for Christmas, Trudy Cooper and Doug Bayne have delivered a new Oglaf comic, skewering fantasy tropes with absolutely not safe for work humor, every week since 2008...
