The Vibe, such as it is, is that The Democrat Party feels entitled to our vote, and the voters are beginning to resent that.

And since you can't browbeat resentment out of people – and God knows they've tried – so what's Plan B?

What's the vibes-based solution since policy won't move the needle?

Artists! The US Copyright Office has changed the rules, starting in Feb. we can register up to 20 published 2D works of art in a single application, making it way more affordable!
Important as registration is needed to fight theft in court or the CCB.

I posted a not fun update to my GoFundMe. I fell and broke my back. I'm almost certainly paralyzed for life. I'll start a new GoFundMe when I know more what my life will look like in the future, but until then donations will help with lost income and my mom to pay for gas and VERY expensive parking.

This is just how flailing Microsoft currently is:

f you have a copy of Outlook that you already paid for via what's meant to be a standalone copy of Office 2024, it still tries to extort money out of you to remove ads.

From software you *paid* for.

LibreOffice and Thunderbird are completely free.

Of note is that this is a response to the AI backlash, and a baby step.

Mozilla is trying to have their cake and eat it too: adding AI, then giving customers a way to shut it off which Microsoft and Google won't do.

It's too cute by half.
“Vivaldi CEO Jon von Tetzchner accused other companies like Google and Microsoft of ‘reshaping the address bar into an assistant prompt, turning the joy of exploring into inactive spectatorship.’”

Ken Paxton, the Texas AG has created a bathroom snitch line to report suspected trans people in bathrooms.

Please don't spam this form that lacks a captcha code and definitely don't create a script to automate it. That would be very very wrong to do.

It just clicked in my head that if the RAM shortage continues as it is, it's going to be literally impossible for most people to upgrade from Windows 10 systems to ones that run Windows 11.

So Microsoft is going to be pushed to add another year of Windows 10 support or face public crucifixion.

heads up for any gamers, i was trying to figure out why my frame rate was having horrific stutters every so often, and i think it's because discord added a fucking clipping/replay feature and enabled it without telling me. things seem more stable now that i turned it off.

This is a very divided vote. It means we've been encouraging dissent. It now goes to the full committee. Please keep calling and urging your reps to reject it
KOSA passed out of the subcommittee in the House on 13-10 vote. Meaning that they are FINALLY listening to some opposition. But not enough to prevent the other age verification bills from passing, let alone this.

They MUST listen to opposition. Losing this fight is NOT an option.

I dunno, man.

If I have to keep calling my representative and screaming at them to not vote for stuff like the Nailing Babies to Wolverines Act, and if I don't they'll vote to nail babies to wolverines, then it seems to me that person shouldn't be my representative.

Love to see the Sedgwick County Zoo putting out a good explainer on why GenAI slop videos of animals are a problem & how to identify them! It’s succinct, easy to read, and doesn’t shame people for not knowing better. A+ useful link to share with family and friends.

And this is why we fight. This shit won't last long at this rate. If they keep racking up half-TRILLION dollar loss projections, even the most bullish, fascist-ass weirdo billionaire is going to have to stop to keep from losing his shirt.

In case you were wondering where to send your thoughts on the AI "dub" of Banana Fish, you can do so here.

Be polite--and I *mean* that--but so long as you're polite, feel free to let them know exactly how you feel about the AI "dub."
That I can do.

Search Prime Video for the title (I went with Banana Fish), then click on Details, and scroll past the Cast page to "Send Us Feedback."

Let me give some insight on this, as a producer in the dub industry who worked with major streamers, who's witnessed first-hand where this push for AI is coming from.

tl;dr: Only CEOs want this. Tell them how much you hate it. Be loud, email, call, @, post. You will kill this.

🧵⬇️
The only thing less human than these AI dub performances is the decision to sign off on them

A company this big can pay human actors a decent wage, not produce slop that intentionally removes the human element.
