Jann Lee grew up as a poor child who got bullied on the streets and took solace into finding old Bruce Lee (yes, ACTUAL Bruce Lee) movies that inspired him to learn Jeet Kune Do and motivated him to become a martial artist to better himself.

DOA lore can actually be really interesting when you go deep into it, but Itagaki/Team Ninja's marketing about it kinda sidelines the whole plot and pretty much focuses more on the obvious thing that people look at this franchise for and that's disappointing slightly
