No single thesis has ever been so vindicated as 'they like Trump and want him to win'
About the same time the NYT sat on a scoop tying Trump to Epstein, Maggie Haberman was downright giddy (y'all) about NYT promoting an anti-Hillary Clinton book.

ordinary americans are filming ice agents and trying to save their neighbors. for all the hemming and hawing during 2024 about how democracy was an elite concern, the elites gave up far more quickly than average people.

This is true, but also an important thing to remember with supervillains is that they’re incredibly arrogant and loose all the time because of it.
recurring gripe of mine: stop talking about these people like they’re fucking supervillains, Palmer Luckey is grifter bullshit artist who is going to steal a lot of public money in exchange for buggy vaporware, he’s not Lex Luthor. they get off when breathlessl hyperventilating about them like this.
The Merchant of Death, billionaire Palmer Luckey, rebranded the DOD the Department of War.

Peter Thiel/Palantir gave his company, Andruil, a billion dollars in January.

This is Palmer “I love killer robots” Luckey.

Origin story on rename below, as well as him hanging out with the worst people.

The failure of the profession to properly recon with Iraq and its decades of neurosis about appearing too liberal made it incredibly easy pickings for a right wing media guy like Trump to bring out their inner Vichy.
yeah this is on the level of the iraq war casus belli coverage
The difference bet the way the press handled Biden’s vs Trump’s health issues, as well as the standard to which they hold his conduct is one of the greatest scandals in the history of journalism.

Their conduct, and the knowledge they’ve done tremendous damage to their profession, should shame them.

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

The elite centrist crowd wants Trump to do their dirty work; they don't want to be dirtied themselves. They want to be able to dispose of him once he's provided the healthful corrective they've diagnosed as both necessary & overdue.
Lol speak for yourselves motherfuckers

During our midnight screening of Batman Begins, when Gordon flipped over the card that said Joker, a guy dressed in a Bat suit rose to his feet, cheering. The guy in front of him said “that’s it,” turned around, and punched him in the face.
Got me thinking.. What's the strongest reaction you've seen an audience member have to a scene in a cinema?

During the birthday party scene in SIGNS I saw a whole row of young women literally throw their popcorn in the air like a cartoon.
Someone in my audience had a very audible negative reaction to the dog scene in TOGETHER. So that was fun!

I just don't get this logic:

•harm reducing politician makes bad choices -> they lose -> "you're harmed? candidate should have earned my vote"

• harm increasing politician harms people -> "I hope this makes them lose" -> "wtf you sociopath how dare you"

A petty motivation for wanting the court radically reworked is that I despise these people’s arrogance and want them humbled.
Anyway, now they all get to go on 3-month vacation where they complain to wealthy donors that the public needs to better understand their role and their opponents need to be more civil.
