AI summaries kill search traffic. This has been an obvious consequence of Google's AI summary strategy since its inception.

Apparently the training data is so valuable that Google is willing to risk the neck of the goose that lays golden eggs.

“How many comorbids did they have?”

“Disabled people are stealing my tax dollars”

These are all eugenicist talking points.

Disabled people are not expendable.

They’re conditioning you to accept atrocities.

Autism. Here we are, 100 years on from the work of Sukhareva, and 80 years on from the original misunderstandings in the 1940s.   So, what...

The news isn’t being clear about this but to people hearing about these Minnesota shootings: Melissa Hortman is the Dem leader in the Minnesota House and was Speaker of the House 2019-2025. She’s probably the most influential state-level Democrat barring the governor.

Two Democratic politicians and their spouses were shot in Minnesota.

Representative Hortman and her husband have died. Senator Hoffman and his wife are out of surgery, and Governor Waltz said they are “cautiously optimistic” about their prognosis.
Due to a shelter-in-place order and ongoing safety concerns following a shooting that targeted two elected officials, the No Kings protest in Northeast Minneapolis has been canceled.

Our thoughts are with the victims, their families, and the communities impacted by this horrifying violence.

We are 100% building a new internet with even more duct tape and an even higher maintenance burden, meanwhile CEOs think LLMs are set-it-and-forget-it
Working in the field where ai is supposed to make its strongest case, I can attest to spending more of my time fixing LLM code than it would have taken to write it, and it is absolutely getting worse with each iteration.
i feel like the 2020s have been defined by a collective consumer bewilderment. they keep telling us there's great new technology, over and over—it's new and wonderful and and it's going to change the world!! and in reality it all simply suuuuuuucks

The GOP has spent the last 50 years gradually building a system where protest is harder than it's ever been -- and a system where it's culturally disrespected at a level that's hard to comprehend.

For starters, if most Americans take time off to protest nowadays they'll lose their home.
I'm beginning to realize that too many Americans are simply too lazy to stop fascism.

It works. The government here largely works. Because we are so spoiled by how well it works, we are letting a fool convince us it is broken.
In 90 years of social security, we have never had a check bounce or be late, but they want you to believe the system is broken.
