After enduring years of hell from the other side, many people hoped for kindness & truth. Instead, they received more misinformation, & outright cruelty to vulnerable people. It's not hard to understand why so many natural Labour supporters have fled. This simply isn't the Labour Party any more.
I think the key to answering this question is understanding Starmer/Reeves unpopularity among natural allies. A majority of Laboir voters disapprove of him, as do large majorities of LD/Green voters. Hostility from natural political opponents is normal. Hostility from natural supporters is not.
Glad the FT is asking the question. Even if I’m not convinced they found a compelling answer.
I get that Starmer & Reeves are unpopular, I really don’t understand the extent of the dislike.

@joedromey.bsky.social in your Guardian interview you attack Polanski for 'selling the unicorn' that "squeezing a tiny elite of billionaires will pay for everything that we want and everything that we need". Am sure you'd never sell unicorns so can you help me, please, with where Polanski said that?

I see the Sunday Times is as anti-Trans as ever, misrepresenting the Court Judgement in the recent Peggie case,, and giving space to a group announcing this, in their pages:

America has 925 billionaires as of this year. Collectively they have a record $6.9 trillion in wealth.

The bottom 50% of Americans control $4.2 trillion in wealth.

When 925 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Those keen to imagine that the hate and fear only extends to our lovely Trans friends...I have bad news for you.
A sobering poll of views of LGBTQ+ younger people, from different political party voters. Who knew that Labour voters were arguably the most prejudiced, on average?
We really are a nation that loves animals and hates children. These figures are so shameful (via @natacha.bsky.social).
