Jacob Wohl is the guy of “I overheard people talking in a hipster coffee shop about how much they love Donald Trump” fame. He’s apparently now making six figures securing pardons for fraudsters.
GOP operatives Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman, convicted election fraudsters, were paid $960,000 in the second quarter to secure a pardon for a former nursing-home operator who defrauded the government of $38 million. Trump pardoned the man, Joseph Schwartz, last month.
Inside the New Fast Track to a Presidential Pardon
Even some of the president’s closest advisers have been surprised by a number of the recent series of pardons.

Neither the New York Times nor the Washington Post published stories about Trump writing 200 unhinged posts on Christmas Day
You almost have to feel bad for an ugly old man with no family or friends to keep him company on Christmas Day that he makes 200 crazy posts ranting about everything under the sun.

Almost.

How are we not freaked out 24/7 that this is a real missive from the President of the United States of America?? Why is everyone acting like things are normal?! It feels like reality broke.
Trump: “Merry Christmas to all, including the many Sleazebags who loved Epstein, gave him bundles of money, went to his Island, attended his parties, & thought he was the greatest guy on earth, only to ‘drop him like a dog’ when things got too HOT … Enjoy what may be your last Merry Christmas!”

The power of defaults is, in most cases, insurmountable. The path the majority of people will take is the path of least resistance. What's possible with a tool isn't important; only what's easiest, what it enables most.

This is also why piracy only flourishes when it is harder *not* to pirate.

Terrible framing. It presumes JD Vance is not an anti-Semite himself and that he simply chooses to tolerate them in his pro-Semite party as a political sacrifice.

This is false. Vance is their leader. He is a white nationalist anti-Semite actively building the party around others like himself.
J. D. Vance has "clearly made the calculation that anti-Semites are part of the Republican Party’s base, and he can’t afford to shunt them to the side as he plots his own presidential bid," Franklin Foer argues. theatln.tc/aaUENxUw

Also hard not conclude, when the Department of Homeland Security shares this video talking about "our homeland" in a post talking about "our shared savior," that I, an American Jew, am not included in "our," and maybe it'd be okay to deport or kill me. Good times.
Hard not to conclude from this montage that Donald Trump, the only repeated figure other than Santa Claus, is the Savior to which DHS is referring

Axios has learned the White House has begun managing the DOJ's account on X to respond to posts highlighting mentions of Trump in the Epstein files.

In typical administrations, there is a wall between the White House and what is supposed to be an independent Justice Department.

People who think evil, corrupt, and incompetent don’t go together have it backwards.

Instead of looking to Hollywood to explain real world evil, look to Hannah Arendt. Uncorrupt people of integrity won’t do evil. And evil leaders work to elevate incompetents because that helps ensure their loyalty.
"It is logically impossible to simultaneously be evil, corrupt, and incompetent" is an absolutely amazing take to have in the year of 2025

I just wrote an article about this and decided not to publish it yet. It is in the DOJ files (file got renamed after originally published and taken down. It’s online now). But too many unknowns about whether the letter itself is real or not. Some additional info though:
DOJ briefly uploaded this letter from Jeff Epstein to serial child molester Larry Nassar:

"Our president shares our love of young, nubile girls. When a young beauty walked by he loved to 'grab snatch,' whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the system."

so the existence of this letter has, actually, been written about before - the question is whether it’s authentic or not

because, uh

An absolute horror. One day this accursed administration will end; one day Trump will be dead. The people who made this happen, who covered it up, should reflect very hard on which direction they want their lives to go that day. Because they’re deciding right now, whether they know it or not.
Detainee they are interviewing was a college student in Columbia. Waited in Mexico until he had a 2024 immigration interview in CA - a scheduled appointment - where he was told he was a danger to society. Claims he has no criminal record, never even got a traffic ticket. Was immediately detained

The story is insane. The acting head of cyber security, a Noem crony, repeatedly demanded to see highly classified information he didn’t need access to, and when staff set up a lie detector test as a condition to grant him access, he failed it. So DHS suspended the staffers.
