A critic, calling me out as a lefty propagandist, said I’d tried to prejudice readers against a businessman character by drawing him so fat and ugly that people would hate him. I had used myself as the model for the character, accurately copying photos that I’d posed for.
What's an insult you'll never forget?

11 years ago, I finished the 1st Ed. of my translation of the Poetic Edda, meant to make the original stories of the Norse gods and heroes available in today's English. Now the revised, expanded 2nd Ed. is out. A long way to go to the 5000+ 5-star ratings for the 1st, but reader response seems good.

Did you know Stephen King is releasing a novel he co-wrote via newspaper? I did not know this, but just rectified my error by ordering it.

In "fairness" some people reportedly find lots of AI stuff extremely "profound" - and I even believe some of them. It's just that then they show you the "profound" AI Work in question and wind up telling you much more about themselves than about the technology, none of it good.

Happy 76th birthday to Tom Waits, the first musician who was "mine," in that I didn't inherit a taste or interest in him from someone else. This was the song that made me a fan (of both Waits and Jim Jarmusch, really).

Beholden to no one, my schedule has been erratic of late. I sleep when tired. I eat when hungry. And I work nonstop.

There’re about a dozen creator-owned books I want to write and draw, 100+ paintings I want to paint, and I want to sculpt just out of curiosity.

My mind is everywhere today.

I'm very intrigued by Julia Roberts's new onscreen persona of "miserable middle-aged woman who's one bad hour away from actual misanthropy." Even though neither of the films she's made in this mode have been good, and one is complete trash, I approve of this turn in her life's journey.
