Desperate But Not Serious.
Pinned
While yet a boy I sought for ghosts, and sped
Thro’ many a listening chamber, cave and ruin,
And starlight wood, with fearful steps pursuing
Hopes of high talk with the departed dead.

A lot of the aye-eye discourse just sort of blends together for me so I don’t how often this gets brought up but the thing about aye-eye art is that it’s all so fucking boring. It all looks like blacklight posters from the late 90s.

Can't, I'm howling mockery at the cross.
can't, i'm running to the hills
Can't, I'm having dirty deeds done dirt cheap.

Ya know, being a practically unemployable recluse has its advantages. This doesn't surprise me a bit, honestly. The company I worked for 10+ years ago was already tracking us with GPS; and then the company I worked for after that timed our breaks to the second. This is just the latest iteration.

I think this is great! I've chosen to embrace the new world of unspeakable abominations that lie waiting to be birthed upon us!
Meta has patented AI that can run a dead person's account, continuing to post and chat on their behalf

It can message and video call by replicating a user's online behavior using their past data

In honor of Robert Duvall, my favorite Saturday Night Live sketch (this video embedded in a Reddit post is the only copy I know of online) "Who's More Grizzled?" featuring the late Norm MacDonald and a surprisingly good performance by Garth Brooks.

RIP

It's hailing outside and a hummingbird is still drinking from the feeder. They're such addicts.

Wait, WTF? Stealing fossils from a Native American reservation?

Did these people just sit around trying to think up the most cartoonishly evil things they could do to amuse themselves?

Ya know, I don't wanna sound crazy or nothing but I'm starting to think maybe this Epstein guy was actually murdered because he "knew too much" as they say.

Reading "Rebecca" has inspired me to go on a bit of a Daphne du Maurier kick. I have "The Birds and Other Stories" (seen the movie, never read the story) lined up.
And I finally got around to reading "Don't Look Now." I'm a little annoyed that I knew what the twist ending was...

"Where do you see yourself in five years?"

"As a mouldering corpse in some dank cave."

"Okay, I think we have everything we need."

"Just a pile of rat-gnawed bones with here and there a strip of leathery flesh still clinging..."

"Okay, we'll be in touch."

Also, and it’s pathetic that an old cishet white guy like me has to point this out, but it’s still not OK to make misogynistic comments about right wing women.
If you’re making fun of a political opponent’s looks it means you just really like making fun of people’s looks and you’re using politics as an excuse.
I'm so sick of "progressive" "leftist" people making fun of how people on the far right look.

You know what? Some (maybe LOTS) of people who align with your beliefs look like shit. Some of us didn't get to come out before we got old. Didn't have the money for surgery, wardrobe, etc. And are fat.

The upside of being an abject failure is that all of those people who predicted that I'd be an abject failure are probably feelin' pretty good about themselves right now. And that's nice for them.

I’m not going to say that only Bill Ryan could manage to slip a Would I Lie To You? reference into a review of a Don DeLillo book, because honestly anyone could do that if they wanted to. But just maybe what I’m saying is that Bill is the only person who does want to do that?
My new FREE TO ALL Reading Project post is up. In this one, Don DeLillo's THE NAMES turns me into a conspiracy theorist, and David Demchuk's THE BONE MOTHER redefines folk horror!
