Whimsical nihilist. Passionately apathetic. Humanist misanthrope.
Interestingly, the painting that inspired this poem wasn't actually by Da Vinci. It was by an unknown Flemish painter, but was mistakenly attributed to Da Vinci for years.

Sounds like you're living your best life.

...video on the disc. Little did I know that 20 some years later, I would live about 60 miles from where this historic event occurred.

We once saw a much smaller (but still SUV sized) dead whale on the beach. The bald eagles were having the time of their lives.

Paul Linnman was still working in radio news when we first moved to Oregon, but I think he's retired now.

My first knowledge of the exploding whale was in the early 2000's when I got the demo CD of a weird experimental band. They had included an extremely grainy Quicktime version of this...

A lot of people don't seem to grasp that the interest on mortgages is front-loaded. So adding an extra twenty years means an extra twenty years before you start paying down the principle.

I was not familiar with this, but I just watched one of the videos. Odd.

May I interest you in @chiitan.love ?

I love licorice. These aren't the kind with salt on the outside are they? I've had those (from Sweden) and they're...an experience.

Have you read "Perfume" by Patrick Suskind? Not Victorian (pre-Revolution France), but it's got Historical Ickiness in spades.

(It's possible you and I have already discussed this book, but my memory these days is like fingerprints on an abandoned handrail, in the words of Bob Mortimer).

I immediately thought that it looked like a door on a ship. Turns out the whole building has a nautical-inspired look:

Oh, this is wonderful. The building is still there, and the whole thing has a nautical-inspired Streamline Moderne design. It's about to be fully renovated:

I know of a guy who restores and sells vintage fridges from the 50s and 60s. He's in Roseburg, Oregon though and I assume that's a bit of a haul from where you live.

My college career was extremely brief (about a semester and a half) but during that time I took History of Photography and I absolutely loved it. There are so many great photographers that rarely get mentioned anymore.

You need a flaming skull in there somewhere.

...virtual "tip jar." Certainly better than trying to negotiate scummy rights grabs.

(This is all theoretical for me, because I can't write short stories to save my life).

Had to look up David Battley's name, but he is a legendary "that guy" actor. I mostly know him from The Ruttles and of course as Charlie Bucket's teacher from Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. The go-to bloke when you needed an actor who looked really, really British.

One of the hidden benefits of being goth: everything you own matches, because it's all black.

On the other hand, sometimes it's hard to find your black cat on your black bedspread.
