Hi hi hi I’m going buck wild following starter packs this week. Who am I? No one! A random white nonbinary dyke living in southern California, by way of Minneapolis, who mostly reposts. I’m a marketing writer by trade and a horror writer by delusion. Here to learn from smart people 🤓

Abolish ICE and destroy their computers and databases.
license plate data merged with credit header data, marriage records, vehicle ownership, and voter registrations, in one app for ICE agents. oh and it sends push notifications when someone they're seeking is nearby.

This App Lets ICE Track Vehicles and Owners Across the Country
Material viewed by 404 Media shows data giant Thomson Reuters enriches license plate data with marriage, voter, and ownership records. The tool can predict where a car may be in the future.

Could argue the misogyny Summers expressed both publicly while president of Harvard and in emails to Epstein says more about the culture at our most elite institutions than any of the frontpage freakouts over academia in the past few years but hey

A few weeks ago I was talking politics with a local, highly straight, bartender.

All the sudden he said: “Well, I think a big part of the problem is that so many of the people who would’ve been our progressive leaders died of AIDS & can’t help us now.”

And I’ve thought about that every day since.

The New York Times successfully keeps bamboozling people because they still do some pretty good reporting, sometimes on things the GOP doesn’t like, even - but if you look at their overall body of work over the last 10 years, a very clear picture of their agenda emerges.

Sick to my stomach that the President being mixed up with a horrifying global network of pedophiles is considered a 'voter issue' and not something the whole world needs to know about and people need to be prosecuted for.

Only reason anyone would want people to ignore Epstein is if you're involved
The usual suspects are telling Dems that Epstein won’t win elections, get back to “affordability” and I think my head might explode. www.offmessage.net/p/force-a-re...

It divides Republicans much more than "affordability" or any other economic issue.

Again it’s not good that the most prominent leaders of the party keep insisting it’s a trap to talk about “identity” when the Trump administration is pushing white supremacy.
Speaking at a Texas Tribune Festival on Friday, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg criticized the Democratic Party for failing to reach everyday Americans, arguing that it “got sucked in” to a conversation about identity. #TribFest25
Pete Buttigieg critiques Democrats for focus on identity
The former U.S. transportation secretary said the Democratic Party should focus more on issues gripping the country, such as health care and housing affordability.

Words matter: and Im sure the NYT knows this.
This passive framing here in this headline here and the post is intended to ensure that the powerful men responsible are ascribed as little blame and agency as possible, and instead to place blame on circumstances and the parent.
Words matter.
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

My wokest opinion is that abortion is good for society and should not be subject to any restrictions whatsoever, done solely at the discretion of the pregnant person and their doctor
My wokest opinion is that it's deeply offensive to knowingly mispronounce or misspell someone's name (or call them the WRONG name or nickname), or to not put in a good-faith effort to get it right.

Obviously, mistakes happen and not all sounds or spellings translate cleanly. But you've gotta try.
My wokest opinion is that “microaggressions” is far from SJW hyperbole but a conservative way to describe the concept, with the small scale of each incident baked into the name. The point is that they accrue, and that’s correct

It’s embarrassing that anyone actually believed the rich people would actually leave their nice elite enclaves in highly-developed states
NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Tax the rich. Greg Ryan in @bloomberg.com:

when you understand that patriarchy views children as sexual property it all makes sense. there's no hypocrisy. exposure to queerness & transness threatens to "corrupt" the father's property, to "lead them astray" into self-determination, to taint their future sexual value. CSA is permissible as >
Thatcher's government did this with Section 28, banned the "promotion of homosexuality" as a danger to children, while actively protecting Jimmy Savile and who knows how many other pedophiles. It's the same damn playbook.
I cannot begin to properly articulate how upsetting it is to have had people baselessly accuse trans people of being groomers and pedophiles only for it to come out that they were deliberately doing this as part of a project to provide cover to actual groomers and pedophiles in positions of power

This is color-evasiveness at its finest. They aren’t blind or ignorant to race. They are banning discussions of it to hoard power. They evade race to protect themselves while rewarding whiteness.
Conservatives claim that structural racism does not exist while simultaneously creating innovative new forms of structural racism like banning discussions of the concept.

If they really are cooking up new war plans, it’s probably because of this.
🚨 NEW: More Republicans are quietly telling Rep Thomas Massie they plan to vote to release the files, and he predicts this could snowball.

“Trump will protect you… if you vote to cover up for pedophiles… but… this vote is going to be on your record longer than Trump is going to be president.”

What the Epstein files show is the *solidarity* of many men-across class, race, religion, profession & party affiliation-in the global political project of keeping the boot on women's necks.

People have no problem understanding class solidarity among the rich. Why can't they see gender solidarity?
Like I dunno, maybe the reason it took a lady to break open the story of all the men protecting the dude trafficking underage girls is because the male journos were all emailing him making jokes about it?

Important to understand the Epstein stuff and the fascism and the corruption are, in a lot of ways, really all the same story from different angles: powerful men who can and do abuse vulnerable people around them because they can, and because systems of elite accountability catastrophically failed

KIDS ARE PEOPLE
One more thing. When I wrote about this study showing one-third of Americans don't drive, people were messaging me saying this cannot be true for LA.

In LA County *23 percent* of the population is under 16. Kids are people! We must plan for their movement, just like all nondrivers. Hope that helps!
Highly recommend diving into NRDC's study on car access, which @keawilson.bsky.social wrote about here: usa.streetsblog.org/2025/10/02/report-16-million-have-no-car-access-at-all

Where Nadir was killed, 14% of LA households are car-free. But the infrastructure does not match that reality

I’ve said this before, but a huge function of our carceral system is resource extraction from exploited communities, and that includes the fees, commissary, and essentials people send to their loved ones, not to mention the time, attention, energy, etc.
