Sometimes you get to go "aaaah"

Also: no solos ever because no one writes them for that range
Friend’s child who is 12: You should sing in a choir! Why don’t you?

Me: Well I’m probably gonna this year but here’s the thing I’m a contralto so it’s not much fun

12: Wait why?

Me: It’s the lowest fem voice so you never get to sing anything good you just play bass with your voice for 1000 years

The film rights are wide open and in fact have never been optioned.
@catvalente.bsky.social Hi Cat, hope you're well. As I reread Radiance I keep envisioning not just how it might look on the silver screen, but how I might adapt it. What's the story with the film rights of Radiance? Thank you for indulging my curiosity--- Happy New Year!

I had a few (not many [if any]) 5 star reads this year but for me the absolute best books I read this year were Radiance by @catvalente.bsky.social and I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman. Both astonishing books in very different ways, but they’re the ones I return to in my mind.
Thanks to Murderbot, I hit my goal
of 50 books for 2025. #books #reading #booksky 🇳🇿💙📚

Sigh.

Told you.
Trump is cutting childcare funding to Minnesota because of his usual petty bullshit but also an online conspiracy theory about as credible as Bat Boy ever was.

Don’t worry they definitely won’t do this again hoping women aren’t able to work outside the home anymore! Which will work out great!

• Julianna Baggott's The Historiography of Loss (www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/the-...)

this isn't quite @catvalente.bsky.social s PLANET LION but near enough that if you like this thread you should look it up as it's free to read online
given how common the "you're the sole survivor of a spaceship crash on a hostile planet" story is in factory games, someone should make a reverse-factory game where you play as an alien tracking down and destroying colonizers who fall out of the sky and try to turn your planet into green tech cards

See? And when I try? This is what fuckin happens.

Years older than me, a whole-ass lawyer, said he was a full communist, more left than “anyone I know,” then stuck me with his tab & left because I said the Holodomor really happened & isn’t a capitalist lie.

I have so many things I want to complain about wrt Stranger Things but can’t because spoilers etc.

But I just went back to watch S4 & WTF happened?? This show was so good RECENTLY! It had a story, not just exposition, everyone could act, iconic new sound/set design, subtlety, action…I am so baffled
December 26, 2025 at 10:35 PM
I swear Stranger Things used to have natural, flowing dialogue when it wasn’t quick, clever and quotable. And didn’t always need to Say the Thing, sometimes even just showed it or let the subtext exist.

It’s nights like Christmas night after everything is all said & done & quiet that you have weird thoughts like: I want to date again but I don’t know how much energy I have left to get to know more people. From *scratch*? Like oh my god what do I do? What movies do I like? I’ll need days to recover.

Oh my FUCKING god Alexa nearly blew the whole Santa game for us

The Childe opened their new sled & said “Oh I already knew about that Alexa told me”

I had notifications turned off, ALEXA YOU TRIFLING BIN BAG

I passed it off as “I was thinking about it but I didn’t buy it, Santa must have known…😬”

This is what the New York Times delivered to my inbox this morning, while the Epstein Files *early* analysis involved the President of the US participating in child-rape & infanticide.

They never stopped shrieking about Biden’s age & Hillary’s emails as history’s greatest crimes WHAT THE FUCK
December 24, 2025 at 3:16 PM
The level of plot armor Trump has against, not even things that would sink another politician, but would get any other human set on fire forever, is so total & unprecedented I’m beginning to think the only possibly scientific explanations are genie’s wish, warlock powers, alien, or actual Antichrist
I know, I know, Trump raped kids & was accessory to killing a baby & the source is an official gov. doc they gave us, but have you considered Kamala laughed weird, Biden said the wrong name, Dean yelled too loud, Kerry was boring, Dukakis looked dumb in a helmet, Obama was black & Hillary existed?
