Police chief was just asked if students should carry their documentation on campus now that the university police has been deputized to do immigration enforcement. His answer: “that would help.”

FIU is a show me your papers campus. Sad to see this at this otherwise great school.
Students, faculty, and community members packed our town-hall at @fiu.bsky.social to speak out against the cooperation between ICE and campus police.

The little, potted desert rose near my door is putting on a show. Figured its efforts at looking fancy deserved a wider audience.

The biggest reason why I dislike the idea of respectability in dress is because it conflates the *appearance* of virtue with *actual* virtue. Wearing a suit doesn't make you respectful, intelligent, or capable, just as wearing a leather jacket doesn't make you rugged.

I don’t consider myself a good person by my own standards of conduct but it kinda bothers me how much it turns out nobody cares at all. Like, in the abstract, I feel like “you should keep your word when possible” should be a thing we agree on and it stains our honor when our country doesn’t do that.

DOJ "...is shutting down its kleptocracy initiative that’s recovered billions of dollars from corrupt overseas officials since 2010 and the KleptoCapture task force, which has led efforts to confiscate yachts, planes and real estate from rich Russians sanctioned over the war in Ukraine."

Need good arguments to share about why USAID is worth protecting? Here are some sound bites from Sen. Marco Rubio, who firmly supported US Aid until a few weeks ago!
On CNN we played numerous examples of Rubio praising foreign aid as vital to American interests. We also revealed a letter he wrote to Biden in 2022 suggesting USAID's budget needed to be increased to counter Chinese Community Party influence around the globe.

*No followers demand this. At all.

Some absolutely phenomenal, long-term investigative reporting on the completely out-in-the open, career criminal infested, ecosystem of illegal slot machines in South Florida. Some real jaw dropping stuff in here, with more to come later in the week.
SPECIAL REPORT: A Sun Sentinel investigation found that Florida is home to hundreds of illegal casinos. While some operate openly — with brightly lit signs, Facebook pages, and weekly promotions — others have been forced to operate in secret by more frequent police raids.
