The Bishop Henry Whipple Federal Building looms in the background of the camp at Coldwater Spring, or Mni Owe Sni, at Fort Snelling along the Mississippi River — where the U.S. government in the mid-1800s killed hundreds of Dakota people and imprisoned more than 1,600 in a concentration camp.

I really don't get why it's hard for people to look towards the folks who have been doing grassroots work for a long time right now instead of people who woke up yesterday like them. I'm sure after years of being gaslighted & mocked for being right ahead of the curve, they'd greatly appreciate it.

It is deeply distressing that Democrats open negotiations with "ICE should follow the constitution" the GOP is like "lol nah" and that's the story.

I see people defending Democrats sometimes like "what are they supposed to do?" Our constitutional republic is falling. Act like it, for starters.
This is literally what CURRENT LAW requires. It’s in the Constitution! www.politico.com/news/2026/02...

i urgently need a lawyer/group of lawyers who can write up a risk assessment for people of various citizenship/visa/asylum statuses to get on a plane home to minnesota from detention

It’s already illegal!!!!!!!!
Enh, this is defeatist.

Will they fight it? Yes. Will they try to get around it? Yes.

Is making it illegal important? Absolutely. Is it a tool that could be used by activists, lawyers, and judges? Yes.
have a feeling that even if the Dems got a strong version of this—against leadership wishes btw!—into a final bill (unlikely) ICE just wouldn't do it and nothing would happen to them

Yielded back just after saying, “and that’s why I support abolishing ICE.”
McIVER: Do you consider yourself a religious man?

LYONS: Yes mam

McIVER: How do you think judgment day will work for you with so much blood on your hands?

LYONS: I'm not going to entertain that question

McIVER: Do you think you're going to hell, Mr Lyons?

I love Ilia and he’s the one of the greatest figure skaters of our lifetime, but let’s not pretend he isn’t insulated by white male privilege when people talk about his backflip. I’m old enough to remember watching Surya Bonaly, a Black woman, do hers and being publicly DRAGGED for it.
It’s Completely Insane, Worth No Points and Has the Olympics Flipping Out
The most spectacular backflip at this Winter Olympics is happening on ice, not snow. And it’s the highlight of American figure skater Ilia Malinin’s program.

Not to mention the way SEO fucked with online searching in addition to Boolean searches no longer being effective.
suggesting online search > using a medical AI chatbot may underestimate how many websites are now full of AI slop (not to mention how AI has permeated online search)
this is why people are comparing AI to microplastics or a virus—there are no uncontaminated parts of our info ecosystem.
"People are better off using online searches or their own judgement" is an unbelievably harsh indictment of AI chatbots
