Don't have "global," so I went with "universal"
Snow and wind continued pounding the small post beside Lake Just’s gate. Inside, Privates Trent, Gibbons and Marley stood huddled by the small stove, struggling to keep warm and waiting for their shift to end. The coffee helped, but there was only so much of the slop one could drink in a single sitting. Marley kept to himself, but to pass the time, Gibbons and Trent discussed important matters: “That broad that showed up tonight had some body on her, eh?” “I don’t know,” Trent replied. “I guess. I didn’t really notice.” “Trust me, fella. I patted her down.” He shook his head and whistled. “Like a statue.” “If you say so. Kinda grim looking, if you ask me.” “Nah, see, I like that. I like the gloomy ones.” He grinned and nodded, as if speaking some universal truth, but Trent shrugged and sipped from his coffee. “I’ll tell you one thing: that was some beast she had with her. Lady must be hard to ride around on that thing.” “I think when our shift ends, I might go find her. See if she wants to warm up in my bunk, if you follow.” “You’re a jackass, Gibbons.”

A lot of time on that walk was spent thinking about what the wolves had done… and exactly how much I had helped. Marilyn had said I helped her–that joking question about going back in time myself. I decided to ignore for the moment the possibility that I was partly responsible for the obliteration of all world cultures, etc. etc. Or at least when I stopped thinking about it, I stopped wanting to throw up.

“Yellow star, four rockies, asteroid belt and then four gas giants?” Driona asks. “Yes! Earth is the third one from the sun!” “Looks like we found your home, Jennifer! Setting course now!” Driona says, tapping away at a keyboard on the console and then jumping into the pilot seat. “We’ll be there in a minute or so!” The FTL trip I’ve now seen numerous times plays out yet again until a blue green and yellow ball swells out of the blackness and fills the cockpit. I’ve never seen anything as beautiful in my life. “We’re here… and we have access to a global communication network! Handy. Rondu’s console can make good use of that!” Driona exclaims and jumps out of the pilot seat, heading back into the hold towards the new piece of equipment Rondu had installed earlier. I unfasten my seat-belts and join her there as she begins working animatedly on it with all four of her arms. She looks more excited than I’ve seen her before… which doesn’t say much since I’ve only known her about a day now. “Lets see…” she says, staring at the one screen on the triangular console. “Lets see… yes! Connection established and… and the process has started! Rondu will get real-time data from this as well, so he’ll know what’s going on as soon as we do! Now, to see if my theory is right!”

At least, he supposed, there wasn’t any shortage of interesting things within eyesight to distract himself with. The vase on the mantelpiece, for example – small, unassuming, but inlaid with silver and blue lines which glinted in the weak sunlight as though there was starlight trapped within them. Or the blanket draped across the back of the chair Viola was sitting in – heavy white wool, decorated in red and black lines and patches which curved around each other to form a picture of a leaping orca every bit as real as the one painted on the wall behind the statue of the Three Brothers at the High Temple. *I wonder if that’s for prayer – I know some people use blankets in their rituals, and it sounds like the sort of thing yellow-eyes would do.* *Though I don’t think Viola’d be sitting on it if that was the case.* “Do I have something on my face?” “What? No.” “Then why’re you staring at me? I know you’re from up-country, but I’m pretty sure you’ve seen a werewolf before today.” Dammit. He knew she was trying to get under his skin, but that didn’t mean it wasn’t working. “I wasn’t looking at you. I was looking at the blanket.” *And that makes so much more sense. Gods, if she didn’t already think I was an idiot…* “What blank- oh, that.” She reached back, running a careful hand over the orca’s dorsal fin. “I think that’s from across the water, though don’t quote me on that.”

That maybe somewhere there's another girl and her uhh”—she elbowed him in the ribs and he shied away, grinning—“trusty sidekick.” She chuckled once, but the smile slipped from her face as she contemplated the distance between them and the heavens. “Only, they're dining on the best foods out there, maybe dancing in moonlit halls. Wearing clothes made of starlight…” She trailed off, and Shrimp turned to look at her. She glanced at him. “Okay, yeah, you're right, that may be a bit too much, but anything's possible out there in them other worlds, right? ‘Specially if it's in a different time.” She sighed and shook her head, but she met Shrimp's gaze—saw the frown digging between his brows—and offered a small, encouraging smile. “Well, I don't know if you dream, but that's what I see when I close my eyes at night.” She grabbed his hand and held tight. “All them silly renderings in the stars.”

On her way across the city, the modest elegance of the Parc des Temps captured Briaca’s attention. Cypress and pomegranate trees and beds of white mulberries garlanded the park whose smaller scale meant little before its open-air exhibition of global curiosities: a decorative replica of a pyramid from Kemet (many of the real ones had melted during the Vengeance), a compact yurt from Tourkia, a pond surrounded by lilies with a tiny pagoda at its centre gifted by Kinézika allies. None of it was the real thing, yet Briaca enjoyed strolling through the park and imagining what life was like in those places she had never been to. As a decorated soldier of Aphrodite, she had travelled across and beyond Soliakó, but brandishing the sword in the name of the Mother Goddess left little time to explore. And when she did… well, not everyone showed a willingness to talk to her. Zoé once blamed it on all the fresh blood on her armour and sword, but that couldn’t be it. Briaca always made sure to smile at them! Why would they be scared?

Shaken, Jedhrath turned toward the camp. As his heart began to thaw, he dreaded the prospect of hours alone. After the ecstasy of union with everyone and everything, his actual detachment from others— his discreteness as an entity-depressed him, made him terribly lonely, and filled him with homelonging so overwhelming he felt he might collapse in the snow. To distract himself he looked for familiar faces, but all he could see were Lord Shelwon's receding back and Ra'am Chalmalch's baleful eyes. What was wrong? The Ra'am had kept it out of the prayers and rites, but Jedhrath could tell by his stare and the set of his mountainous shoulders that all was not well, that he was displeased; and that the object of his displeasure was the man on whom the hope of the ENTIRE WORLD of Rhadhallon rested. They stretched out their hands to her, and she brushed their fingers. “I am Mu’u Jasana,” she said. “I am the True Sea Mother, the one you heard prophesied of. I know how many of you have suffered in the dark, but you are free now. I have set you free. The false Sea Mother Mireia imprisons her children, and that is how you know she is false. But I am the bringer of freedom and hope. That is how you know I am true. “For far too long, the corrupt elites of this land have convinced you to follow weak impostors. They’ve told you that Atalantis must remain isolated, that our power is something to be hidden away and ashamed of. But the truth is the opposite: your power is a gift! You are my children, the firstborn of the Sun and Sea, and you were never meant to stay hidden away on this lonely island. You were meant to claim dominion over the whole world and all its lesser creatures. This is the great destiny that was always intended for you, but it has been thwarted by small people who want to hoard power for themselves.” Murmurs of righteous anger swelled through the rebels at these words. Jasana, reaching the far end of the room, climbed up onto a table and turned to her people. Though she was small, she towered, a figure of natural power and charisma. It was impossible to look away from her. “Swear your loyalty to me,” she told them. “Promise to follow me to the end of your days, and I will lead you to your destiny!”

From a cyberpunk ghost ship story.

Going with "world" since I don't have global. How the floating micronation the crew is infiltrating attempted to fund itself. Did the plan work? Reread the first line of this post.
The pitch was simple; use electronic commerce, remote office locations and blockchain currencies not bound by normal regulations to function as a mini economy. You needed to be able to prove you could make money remotely to finance the ship’s planned resupply stops across the world, but intraship commerce would keep the wheels turning. Tiny transaction fees (that aren’t taxes) would go to paying for the maintenance of the ship. They’d offer to take in all sorts of local products from wherever they had to pull in to resupply and use their online presence to give these small businesses a PR boost, letting their goods be associated with the splendor and luxury of the world’s elite.

Leaving the forest they entered the Burn, the still charred remains of the other half of the Red Forest. The ash had gone gray in the decades since the fire had ripped through this half the forest. Here, it seemed like the world was divided into the dying and the charred remains of the dead.

From my Epic Fantasy novel Waking the Saints. Never trust someone convinced of the righteousness of his cause. A saint spoke during her Mage's Ordeal and the demon-hunter is trying to obey the saint's command.
“Please, Kahyla, remember the other part of the saint's command: The demons are coming and the sleepers must awaken. Bring me a mage: powerful and ambitious.” Zorrik laughed bitterly. “I need to find a powerful and ambitious mage. Not to kill him but hand him a Saint’s power. I may be a demon-hunter, but my own staff could never know what I was doing, working with a mage, to wake a saint that could bring the end of the world.” A shadow dimmed her smile. The sunbeams from the window picked out the remains of magefire burns on her cheek. “You know a mage, Kahyla. Someone instructed you, or you never would have survived against your father,” Zorrik said. Despard rubbed his hand down his thigh. “Why should she hand over this mage to you? You’re a demon-hunter. It’s your job to kill any mage you find.” “My work protects Huxen from demons. Even Ferruth and the rest of the world would fall to the flood of demons. If a mage’s greed for power were unchecked, we would drown in the demon-eaten and their thirst for blood, enslaving whole villages without a Saint to free them.” “Mages in Ferruth seem to do just fine without your Ordeals,” Despard said. “Not as powerful as Kahyla, but they get by without any bloodletting.” “I don’t expect a heathen to understand,” sniffed Zorrik. “ As followers of Parkith, we have a responsibility.”

The bugs are working!” He pumped a fist; the nearby Mikanjo narrowed their eyes and scuttled backwards. One of them called out, “This,” he copied Paul’s gesture, “it means good or bad? Do you say you will hit and do violence?” Crap. Humans were going to have to watch themselves, if something so simple to him wasn’t clear to his hosts. There was a whole world of Human gestures that were innocent, and probably even more that weren’t. Body language was a new frontier when it wasn’t merely a cultural divide, but one of biology and speciation.

She held up the broken chisel to toss at the garbage can, but stopped. Nostalgia locked her fingers in place. That chisel had helped her bend and warp limestone at age 24. Chip solid marble into a flowing pond at age 40. And now here she was nearly 50, and about to cast aside the one thing that had helped her make her visions a reality? A reality that she had barely begun to manifest? No.

“That’s the Godswatch Tower,” Celeste said. “It still stands.” Opposite the black stone, about twenty yards past the clearing, was a massive tower. It stood alone in the field, like a lighthouse without an ocean, and appeared to be well over a hundred feet tall. The apex was a wide dome, making it resemble a giant scepter. The tower was old, but not ancient, and Krutch thought it peculiar any structure would be built in the open by itself. “There used to be a special crystal at the top that enabled the viewer to see vast distances,” the Dinah continued. “It was crafted to observe and study the stars. They built the tower out here where there would be no city light to interfere.” “I heard about that,” said Lamont. “Unfortunately, that’s also why the crystal got stolen.” “Yes,” she said. “I know there’s another tower closer to Ira, but that crystal’s not as strong as the original. It’s such a shame. Sometimes I don’t understand this country.” She sighed and shook her head. “Still … I always wanted see the top of the tower. Even without the crystal, I’m sure the view is gorgeous.”

The smell of smoky herbs filled the moon lodge. Windows shaped like the phases of the moon circled the round, earthen ceiling. Small alcoves built into the walls held candles in front of crystalline surfaces, reflecting geometric light and splintering off apparitions of shadow. Altars full of feathers, stones, glass, roots, colorful fabrics, and flowers sat in the four directions. A tile mandala on the floor depicted the known levels of awareness. The People’s world of daily life was represented in the center around the central wood stove, surrounded by known terrain and creatures. The outer rings consisted of pictures representing the past, the underworld and shadow realms, outer space, and layers of the spirit realm.

From the vault! I got 40% done rewriting "At Your Pace" to be dual POV to make it more marketable before I said nope, male POV all the way, but I had a lot of fun writing a "girls getting ready together" scene for the first time Valeria and Emerson go to a party together. Bonus chapter, I guess.
Alyssa parked me in my desk chair. “Where’s your hair stuff?” “In the basket on top of the bookshelf.” She found the right one and came back over, then started twisting some strands of my hair into a half up, half down hairdo. “Have you texted him or anything to meet up tonight?” Alyssa asked. “No,” I admitted. “I don’t want to seem clingy.” “Don’t be afraid to be a little flirty. I mean, men aren’t mind readers,” Alyssa said. “We’ll see. If the vibe is good.” If he shows up, I thought. Alyssa worked some more magic pinning my thick waves back, then picked out a little faux pearl and crystal hairpin that I impulse purchased and hadn’t yet found an occasion to wear. Alyssa stood back, had me stand up, and motioned her hand for me to twirl. I felt a little silly because I wasn’t even wearing a dress, but I played along.

In extremely small, precise concentrations.” A flick of her hand, a tiny spark. “I believe they start with a completely pure crystal. They build on it, layer by layer. With chemical baths… and patterns of light.” She got technical, but the others seemed to follow.

“Tell me why you want me in Engineering so urgently.” There was a pause before The Rec answered. “Logic and protocol demands it.” “That’s not all of it.” “It is.” “I’m going to deck two.” She turned left and started the slow plod across the deck. “I must insist that you continue to Engineering and restart the ship.” She smiled to herself without stopping and⁰ continued down the corridor. “I’ve started walking now. Sucks when you lose control of the situation huh?” “I’m afraid that this is not a moment for levity, Captain. I will be unable to continue providing assistance if you insist on not following protocol.” She continued on, passing the exposed pipe work that lined the corridor, here and there she noticed crystalised water droplets on the pipes. “You are starting to sound a little frayed there, Rec. I can continue on my own if you’re gonna keep being a bitch about it.” “Captain, I must insist that you stop treating me as an adversary. My only concern is maximising the potential preservation of life.”
