I learned to love him once before, Orinia had said when Jonas inquired after her feelings for Braph. Learning to love. Was that happy? He’d once done the same with Kierra. Learned. He would like to think they succeeded. He had been happy enough. Had Orinia been happy? He didn’t know. More importantly in this moment: what answer did Llew need him to give? Did she need to spend energy distressed, or would it be better to believe her mother happy with Braph? If Orinia truly was happy with Braph, she likely wouldn’t take too kindly to Llew and Jonas turning up to kill him. It didn’t feel a whole lot like there was a right answer here. “She looked happy,” he said, remembering the lingering kiss between Orinia and Braph. She had watched him leave the room like a woman well-versed in love. A woman whose hero had come for her.

heavy, shimmering
at the rim of the world,
bleeding amber and honey
into awestruck silence.
Shadow’s crowning glory,
unbearably light,
charcoal, bare,
reaching for
the holy flare:
#goal or transformation—
ending… or beginning?
The sun setting behind a bare branched tree in countryside. A dark silhouette of a telegraph pole contrasts with the spindly tree which has a glowing halo of light. It made me wonder if this was what the burning bush looked like.

Shortly after waking, Tara realized her first #goal, when she heard her leash jingle. A walk. If they turned toward the roses' odour at the end of the driveway, then she would seek out the squirrels. If towards the bacon odour, then the beagle, Sammy.

You could spend hundreds of years there and still not have read each one.” His fingers inch towards my hand until just our fingertips touch. “I’m sure you’ll find a few you like, but when you read a book you hate, I want you to tell me about it.” I close my eyes and he’s a mischievous rabbit rubbing his paws together, yet his fingers have shifted to cover mine. “Then I’ll read it so we can talk about all the reasons we hate it.” My eyes spring open. “What?” “I’m sure if a book upset you, you would enter an absolute tirade about it. When you’re on a tirade we have some of our best talks.”

But yeah, K’s right,” said Gideon, standing and stretching, “we need to boogie before the Turning.” “The what?” “Time’s different here,” Vee explained. “How long do you think we’ve been here, Tim?” “Umm,” Tim thought about it and was completely flummoxed. It felt like almost no time had passed, like they’d just arrived, yet he knew he’d talked for a long time. “Think that’s a trip?” Gideon grinned at Tim. “Go feel your mug of tea.” Tim walked over and picked up his drink. Two-thirds of it was gone, but the remainder was just as piping-hot as it had been when Kieran gave it to him. “That’s impossible,” he muttered. “No,” said Kieran, “that’s time in the Duskrealms. It moves in fits and starts, moments staying suspended then hours popping by in a blink. It’s always twilight here, always the between-time, but it occurs at dawn as well, not just dusk, and sometimes the shift from one to the other is rather jarring. We call those abrupt leaps forward a Turning, and once you spend some time here you will learn to feel when one’s coming. There’s one about to occur, and I think it would be best to get you back before it happens.”

We had scheduled to arrive early Friday afternoon. The group that gathered together represented a mix of suburban city dwellers and meditative types. It crossed my mind, we could have chosen to stay at home and meditate in our own space; but, we had gathered here instead, to spend the weekend in silence with a group of strangers. Meena's enthusiasm remained undimmed. She had talked nonstop during the drive, telling me the benefits I should expect.

After Jin and his friends quit their job, Jin #spent his time living with Cosmo rather than to #run back to his parents. Over the weeks, he heard Cosmo's singing voice #progress. He didn't mind the singing as it was tuning an instrument that was stored away years ago. #WIPSnips
