Good morning, writers!
From tomorrow your host will be the lovely & healthy Sheila @lovehealthed.bsky.social who will post at 8am GMT.
Thank you all; it's been great apart from the early mornings!
My final word is #transport - very apt as I trundle off into the sunset.

Scalpel. Suction. Sternal Saw.
Finding true love is not an exact #science. Heartache, broken hearts, hearts with holes —I fix them all.
But as soon as I open this man's chest cavity, I see the problem. No heart at all.
A politician. Sew him up. All that money can keep him company. #vss365

The imperative study of #science
Has been stymied by Trump's vile defiance:
Experts fired, grants blocked,
As he goes off half-cocked
To extort his foul brand of compliance.

If there was a science
for the space between
my worry and wonder
I'd study with fervor.

If there was a water
to hydrate the heart
and soften the spirit
I'd drink 'til I drowned.

If there was a doorway
connecting our minds
I'd never cross over
a coward at best.

"Why are you wasting your time with those #science experiments?" asked the #rich man.
"To make the world better," I said.
"For whom?" he asked.
"But who benefits from all your wealth?"
"What a ridiculous question."
"Precisely," I said.

They talk about #science like it's somewhere between god and a fairytale. The walls get higher and the locks get heavier and we disappear more every day. My body is a bountiful harvest they tell me, my blood an elixir, and I try to remember what it felt like to have a name.

The Universe seeded, our progenitors returned home to observe the progress of their creations from afar.

The #science behind survival and progress, quickly turned into the means of death and destruction.

The creators, reluctant Frankensteins, looked on in horror at their monster, Man.

She gave up the science, questioning the magic. She hoarded words until she became rich in stories. Occasionally she would benevolently hand out poems, tipping words into an outstretched mind. Myths that grew in her thoughts like moss, logic packed away and forgotten.

Sci-fly

The science books
say
things fall,
but I’ve been
hovering
for months,
like
a carnivalled balloon
that forgot
its child.
Gravity
sh-
rugs,
leaves me d ri ft ing.
That’s the trouble
with theories:
they don’t account
for exhausted souls
and leaking
lives.

Rainwater beats
Unsparingly
Against
My windowpane

I wonder
If God chose to drown
The whole World
Once again

The Horsemen ride
War, Famine, Plague
With Death
To end an Age

I struggle to
Make sense of it
But I am not
That sage

I am a man
Of #science
But I’m not
Ashamed to pray

#SCIENCE

“Take a close look!
As the chemicals cook,
each bond will respond
by the values
in my chemistry book!”

As I peered into her flask,
an endothermic reaction
completed its task.
With a roar of color!
With a flash of silence!
My eyebrows grew back but…

She blinded me with science!

#Science of Time

Gazing into
Her quiet eyes
Watching her die.
Man was sent
Meant to be
The protector

Human place
A gift
Not a race
No right
To destroy
Life
Serve disrespect
Politics should
Protect not
Cremate our planet
And all
That live on it.

I watched time die.
With terror
In her 👁️

Remember the #science lab at school
the smell extremely strong
as Bunsen burners leaked nonstop
and to our clothes gas clung?
Perhaps that's why we could recall
our lessons after we'd gone.

you could tell the truth
but it won't do you any good
we all got your number
everyone knows the score
and a better man would admit
he did irreparable damage

Good morning. Today's word is #science.
Which is a category in my Xword book & a subject I touched on at O.level with Biology, Human Biology, and Cookery/Domestic Science.

This is my penultimate day as host, of early rising & much screen time. I will miss it, ambivalently.

I decline to renew the fractious arguments—the exceedingly acrimonious conflicts—regarding handwritten numeral standards.

I have steadfastly maintained the open-topped 4, the elongated 0, the unbarred 7, and a #number 1 with a fine, refined serif.

Any other convention is for common boors.

They said it didn't hit market trends. She wrote anyway.

They said it was too ambitious for a new author. She wrote anyway.

They said it wouldn't be real #literature. She wrote anyway.

She wrote anyway.

She wrote.

Anyway...

People die
everyday

Most times,
it happens
far away
from us

Numbers,
in a distant land

Statistics,
on a headline

But
some times
it hits home

Closer
than we hope,
or pray

Closer
than we fear,
or imagine.

My lucky #number is two.

Why's that?

One is alone.
Two is company. Comfort. Support.
Three is a crowd.
One is contained. Secure. Idyllic.
One is me.
Three is them.
Two is us.

And?

And it helps keep the character count down for my #vss365
