Cold settles into the quiet spaces
where you used to be.
Snow gathers on the windowsill
like words you never said.
I reach for you, but only feel
a stretch of winter air.
Nights are heavy with
the weight of your absence.
I miss you most when the world's
white & there's no one left to hold.

Gestapos opened fire, striking Martinez 5 times in the arm, chest & both legs

1 gestapo had body cam ... Martinez has said in court that it shows an officer shouting "do something b--"

The gestapo who shot her, in a group text: "I fired 5 rounds & she had 7 holes. Put that in your book, boys."
'My own government attempted to execute me,' Chicago woman shot by Border Patrol testifies
Marimar Martinez said she believes that she survived her encounter with Border Patrol agents so she could share her story.

Woke up with this sentence bouncing around in my head...
"I knew you weren’t mine, but I still loved you in the spaces where hope and restraint quietly collide."

For my third poetry book, I'm considering a collection of erotic poems. What do you think?

Stay warm everyone! (Hopefully by cuddling with someone you love 😍)

I don’t ask for promises,
or certainty,
or a future written in ink.

I only ask that you
stay still long enough
to let my love reach you
and trust me to hold
what you carry, gently.

Snow drifts down in quiet spirals,
soft as unspoken thoughts.
I watch each flake fall and wonder
if your eyes are lifted too,
and if somewhere between us
this winter beauty is shared.

It gives me hope
when I realize
my heart still knows
what you need,
that my presence
can reach you beneath
your sorrow's armor.
I touch you in
the quiet places,
where truth loosens
and tears arrive.
And you let it happen,
because you don't
know it’s me.

I miss you in the
quiet places
where my thoughts
slow down enough
to notice the ache.
Your absence presses
against my chest
like weather,
unavoidable,
changing the shape
of every day.
I carry your name
through ordinary hours,
and everything I do
feels like waiting.

The calendar turns,
bright and ceremonial,
but my chest carries
the same old fracture.
January arrives with
clean air and loud promises
but never asked my
heart for permission.
I step into the new year
with your name still aching,
learning that time moves forward while yearning stays.
