Welcome, new folk!

Things I post:
- stuff about my ongoing queer Gothic gaslamp fantasy serial, Argentum in Aqua ( saranadosfiction.com/2023/12/11/a... )
- random musings about writing, larp, video games, disability, being transmasc, or all of the above
- occasionally, unfortunately, UK politics
Argentum in Aqua: An Introduction
ARGENTUM IN AQUA (Blood on the Snow, Silver in the Ashes, Fire in the Sky) All student magician Jonathan Fest wants is to keep his head down and finish out his first year of university without fail…

Thanks for the interest in, boosts & purchases of this trans books bundle! (I've had to increase the goal multiple times 😄).

These books, some also including queer normative and or LGBTQIA+ joy, are available as this set for 4 more days.

I'd like to kick off Trans Awareness Month with 32 stories of Trans People Taking On The World, by mainly trans authors

Your heroes may tackle; love, friendship, magic &war, self discovery, trauma & healing, demons (literal or metaphorical 😉) & or the world itself!

Niche editing issue: remembering to check that you've not accidentally pluralised 'eyes' for your character who only has one eye or 'arms'/'hands' for your character who only has one arm.

(I'm generally decent at it, but it still sneaks through occasionally, especially when I'm writing fast)

My piece on the allies being systematically intimidated is one of the bits of work I am most proud of putting together.

But beyond that it is a story of anti trans activists inside and outside the organisation working together to take down Tavistock and stop trans kids from existing.
In our article:

From allies inside of Tavistock:

“Gender criticals claim they have been silenced, but they have been platformed in media and given words in articles, and space in interviews,”

#WIPSnips | burger

No burgers, so going with another variant of fast/street food - in this case, fish and chips (plus the mention of pancakes, which're probably the most common street food in Sacaan [think crepe-style, with both sweet and savoury fillings])

This is full of mildly astonishing revelations about right-wing influence at the BBC, but foremost among them is the fact that he was advised that writing for the New Statesman was effectively unacceptable but doing so for the Spectator was fine - indeed, advisable. I am flabbergasted.
The reaction to the Panorama edit has been nothing short of hysterical. Yes the BBC has some impartiality problems. But its biggest isn't the one you think.

New piece from me.

I've been thinking on this for a while, and instead of a holiday season sale, Bonedust Press will instead dedicate 10% of all direct sales to the San Diego Food Bank.

Times are tough and since I have to do the marketing song and dance anyway, I'd like to accomplish a little good with it.

Shop small for the holidays, support independent publishing, and do some good!

From now until Dec. 31, we will donate 10% of every single direct sale from our site to local food banks.

Treat yourself to our debut title, The Traitor & The Wretch, or gift it to a friend!

I have a Poe necklace from Torch and Arrow, and a barista once asked me if it was a photo of my grandfather. He’s Goth Grandfather to many of us, I suppose.
Hard to focus/get work done *gestures around* with panicked precarity of our household's insurance on the line (we rely on the ACA as artistic freelancers who *have* to be freelancers due to caregiver + epileptic needs) but I did get black cat earrings listed:🖤 torchandarrow.etsy.com/listing/4365...

I reject the attempts to blame individual or specific judges for these issues. The 'enemies of the people' narrative is appalling. But if we are to restore public faith in the judiciary, especially among marginalised groups, we must address the structural prejudices within our institutions.

I believe in the ability of the law to do good. I believe in the rule of law, and in human rights. I wouldn't be a lawyer if I didn't. But I also know that the judiciary does not operate separately to the society it sits within, and cannot help but replicate that society's prejudices.

"As someone working in law, it’s heresy to say this, and it might even kill my chances of a career... But as a trans person, and someone fighting for the rights of my community, I refuse to remain silent. To me it just seems obvious: a heavily prejudiced society produces prejudiced institutions."
It’s no surprise that only 31% of trans people trust a legal system built to enforce prejudice, says Jess O’Thomson.

On the one hand I definitely need to tune my new-to-me lap harp, because I'm pretty sure at least two of the strings're out.

On the other, I did just manage to get most of the chorus of Toss A Coin To Your Witcher entirely by ear in only a couple of tries, so I'm happy with that.
