I stumbled onto a small herd of Icelandic ponies near Gimli yesterday. They were a bit far from the road and the weather was nasty, but I managed to capture this lovely moment.

The AB government says they are “protecting” sport for women athletes. They are protecting sport for whiney little bitches and for a socially conservative gender binary that is getting dismantled everywhere. None of us will get better or get more opportunity until all of us can play.

How do people survive without a place to cash in empties? I remember seeing a fellow who collected a certain number of empties and cashed them in so he could do his laundry every week.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

periodically I'll see a backlash that goes a little too far or seems kinda unfair. i never say anything because i think we need to be kinda unhinged and zealous in our response to this shit. I'd take an honest-to-God crusade against this stuff over letting it proliferate.
We can do even more.

The guy in the glasses at the bottom left is the former Poilievre staffer who led the charge to get me booted from the fact checking gig on CTV's Your Morning.

Love the collegial solidarity of........having him on the show I used to produce as a pundit, as if that never happened!

I've spent all day struggling to write a single page of a popular science article. I bang away at a word processor; give up; start diagramming on paper. Take some notes; draft a few sentences in pen; return to the computer...and very slowly I figure out what I was trying to say in the first place.
