So, um, anyone have an idea what the government of Canada would do for folks who don’t support AB separation if the current, unscrupulous, authoritarian, minority-controlled UCP provincial government forces some weird shit through to keep power? Would they help us move?

Asking for a…friend.

Kindly fuck off, Donald.

Whoa. Being on my Bsky newsgroup this morning is, literally, like standing in the street and watching several simultaneous bus crashes.

I’m going for a walk in the snow with my pup.

Alright intelligent, middle-aged beeps: what’s your fave national wealth management?

I have a friend looking to move from the AB Treasury Branch for no reasons whatsoever.

This is deranged & unhinged.
To stop China from ravaging & devouring our economy, Trump threatens to … ravage & devour our economy
A week ago Trump praised PM Carney: “If you can get a deal with China, you should do that.”
So much for political autonomy & economic self-determination.

Just genuinely, remarkably stupid.

Alberta has plenty of provincial debt -- and more each year. Any separation agreement would require it to take on a proportionate share of the federal debt.

If anything, an independent Alberta currency would be a recipe for hyperinflation.
Modry added that an Alberta currency would "become the world's strongest currency, because we have no debt."

Pierre Poilievre was uncharacteristically silent for two days after Mark Carney's big speech in Davos. When he finally opened his mouth, he confirmed just how far out of his political and intellectual depth he is right now. #cdnpoli

Pierre Poilievre just can't meet the moment
After two days of uncharacteristic silence, the Conservative leader finally found his voice. What he had to say was the same thing he's been saying for years.

You just gotta LOVE these Yankees (on both sides) doing their own “thinking” for the people and Treaty lands of Alberta. Hey Canada, if all these assholes succeed, your CPP tanks. A little help here…

I also want to state how proud I am of #Lethbridge firefighters right now. Not just because I was a block away (& saw the flames) of the midnight fire in the coulee last week but also because we have been in the news a lot lately (looking at YOU, Neudorf) and this story is about REAL resistance.
This is a really interesting story and one for us all to watch. For me, it’s less about Gil and more about why AB workers were not willing to stand swiftly and firmly together in support of another abused union group.

The UCP is delighted.

Fuck a duck. Fantastic. Good job, Alberta separatist fuckles. You have the worst people on the planet rooting for the stupidest fucking idea on earth, that no sane, serious, non-chemtrail believing, non-truck nut packing person in Alberta wants. Fantastic job, convoy honkers

I’m curious, what do we call a country that has LESS than “middle power”?

The fucking corruption in the Alberta UCP government is outrageous. It’s infuriating.

I fully believe they are planning to hand us over to Trump. Smith and her cronies DO NOT CARE about the majority of Albertans.

OMG. I just checked and it’s -31C with the windchill in Lethbridge right now. I was not expecting this…

That ice is a big, big, problem. "Half an inch of ice can add as much as 500 pounds to a power line, and damage can begin when accumulations exceed a quarter of an inch". anywhere "darker" than the yellow will be at severe risk of extended power outages. towers/lines will fall.
Use caution when looking at the National Weather Service's snow/ice forecasts. These only go through 7:00 a.m. Sunday.

This only covers the first ~half of the storm for many locations, especially east of the Mississippi River.

Natgas futures jumped nearly 75% in the past 3 days with the big winter storm coming.

But if you’re in Alberta and on a floating rate, you still have nothing to fear. AECO gas now participating in the price surge. Still under $3 per GJ.

I’m so uncomfortable with this international situation that I feel the need to apologize to European friends and family just for living NEXT to the raging, stinking, dumpster fire that the United States had become.

Discussing escaping Alberta to get further from threat of "liberation" of Alberta by the USA (and stupid AB govt).

Want to go to Newfoundland because of family. Puts us closer to Greenland.
