Chris Murphy: "There will be pretty substantial damage to a Dem brand that has been rehabilitated if on the heels of an election in which the people told us to keep fighting, we immediately stop... if we surrender without having gotten anything, I worry it'll be hard to get them back up off the mat"

Literally sending all-caps faxes to Schumer's office in between helping my kid with his math homework.
look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

He is a computer safety researcher.
And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

The model of holding individual senators responsible is broken here. The retirees clearly agreed to take the fall. Which is why the nos should get no credit for voting no unless they move to oust Schumer

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

in my opinion, there is no excuse for a democratic system not to weight all citizens equally. Everyone should vote, every vote should count the same, and systemic care should be given to ensure all voters are positioned to make rational choices. None of these things are true in America.

Tonight was the inaugural ride of our new home buyout program. We connect with vendors too scared to be out, and we purchase from them at home. Tonight we bought 250 tamales, divided into 3 teams to deliver all over the city to folks on the street, Love Fridges, and a youth shelter.

I'm really sorry to have subjected all of you to all this NYC posting but it's really been the most breathtakingly ugly race, particularly given that Mamdani has the affect and manner of a Sesame Street character
I don't know what will happen in NYC tonight, but I do know that regardless of outcome, any number of public figures, celebrities, politicians and institutions that oppose Mamdani have done so with a level of rhetorical ugliness, racism, and dishonesty that should neither be forgotten nor forgiven.

The willingness to use every weapon to block an agreement to reduce emissions, is another point for the theory that part of the economic base of Trumpism is a group of capital-owners who’ve decided that a rational response to climate change would involve an unacceptable loss of prerogatives.

I've given my new Senator a lot of shit on here. But I don't think anyone with power has laid out the stakes of what we're facing as clearly as she does right here.
And if she's saying this, it's because she feels she must.

If you agree every neighborhood needs to do its part in solving our citywide housing crisis, vote YES on Props 2-5.
