we're getting all the downsides of cyberpunk (social alienation, ruthless hyper capitalism, digital mass surveillance state) but none of the promised upsides (cheap street food, cool jackets, super drugs that make you really fast and strong before they kill you)

Probably preaching to the choir here, but I wish I could get every denier to read this, the impacts are real and getting worse, and it’s going to have major impacts just about everywhere, whether by forced retreat or increased burden on where people move.

Reading a book about climate change and migration, there’s a whole chapter on Norfolk and I’m chuckling at this description of (what must be referring to) Ghent as “a commercial strip with a few trendy breweries.”

Part of me wonders if a better strategy than sending symbolic forces to Greenland would have been to express confidence in the Trans-Atlantic relationship and just ignore him, dismiss the Greenland talk as unserious ramblings of a dotard.

Today we photographed all the victims we found in downtown Norfolk last year. This is about 280 birds. A handful were car strikes and predator-killed but the vast majority were window strikes.
