If George Dale in Muncie, Indiana could risk his life - and spend regular time in jail - to constantly make fun of the KKK in his newspaper in the 1920s, we can take no shit from MAGAs today.

Hey everyone! Incredible news!

Trans Scouts selling GS cookies this year on my list have sold over 50,000 boxes of GS cookies!

If you want girl scout cookies, consider buying from a trans girl scout this year! They'll mail them to you!

This is literally my fav thing to do every year :)
1. Did you know that Girl Scouts has, for a long time, accepted trans girls and nonbinary scouts?

Trans kids are under attack. Every year, I make a thread of trans and nonbinary girl scouts you can get your cookies from.

Lets get our cookies from them this year in solidarity!

What would life look like if we recognized that happiness is a practice, not a steady state?
some things in the last few days has me thinking about the pursuit of goals and achievements and how it's connected to the idea of happiness in our society

do you work your ass off for a goal and you do it, it's Achieved and then three minutes later you're like "shouldn't I be happier?"

that. 🧵

Paul Pelosi's attacker said in court today he got into politics through Gamergate.

He would listen to right-wing podcasts for hours at a time, and developed a hitlist: Gavin Newsom, Tom Hanks, Hunter Biden, and a women's studies professor he learned about from Conceptual James.

Writing grants for specific projects has been going pretty well! But it's harder to fund "general operations" (aka salary and healthcare for staff).

Hoping I figure this out soon or you might see me job hunting 😅

Prefer one-time donations? We appreciate those!! 👇

We're having a bit of a tough quarter over at Skype a Scientist. I'm writing grants nonstop over here but won't know if it's working for a couple months.

The collapse of social media has made our business model of many small donors beak. In the meantime, your support is VERY appreciated.
We serve classrooms with connections to scientists for free.

We put science into people's lives with public art & pop-ups.

We help scientists connect with their creativity to communicate science.

We rely on YOU to do this work.
Monthly support keeps us alive ❤️

This entire, sorry thread is golden. But this specific thing is not something I've seen summarized quite this way before and it's super helpful, so. Sharing:
7) Is someone excited about a thing you hate? Are they having fun with the thing? Is the thing a front for white supremacist recruiting or organizing the overthrow of the US government? If the answers are yes, yes, and no, respectively, shut the fuck up and let people enjoy things.

Who's this good lookin squid?

That, of course, is the Hawaiian Bobtail squid!

This species is nocturnal and has bioluminescent bacteria in a specialized (and incredibly complicated) pouch called a light organ. They use that light to blend in with light coming down from above!
