Slang terms like ‘six-seven’ have no definition. But they’re loaded with meaning | Matthew Cantor

I know we're not supposed to talk about Woody Allen, but ANNIE HALL is one of the supreme American movies & Diane Keaton's wild charisma is 90% of the reason why. And btw her performance of "Seems Like Old Times" is pure magic—up there with the greatest musical scenes in cinema, zero doubt

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

Wonderful example of Muphry’s Law. Always love to see it.
The iPhone keyboard has done more to damage written language than anything else in the history of the world. Making capital letters and punctuation an extra keypress away has emboldened peoples' natural laziness and given them an 'excuse' to not use them.

Investigate domestic violence properly and you stop very many crimes, because perpetrators are often repeat offenders.
In "Legitimate Concerns" news.

41% of the 899 arrested for taking part in Farage Riots last year had been reported for crimes associated with intimate partner violence.

For those arrested by one police force, this figure was 68%.

This is the most extraordinary piece of testimony; a remarkable mother by the sound of it and a remarkable child, describing an incredibly complex mix of emotions with such clarity
In my years in journalism I have witnessed and sat through many distressing things

But hearing a mother speak about how her 7-year-old daughter twice fought to escape from the Southport murderer, protected other children and suffered 33 stab wounds is one of the most harrowing things I can remember
'My daughter escaped Southport killer twice and I want to tell you her story'
In remarkable and deeply emotional testimony, the mother of a young girl devastatingly injured in the Southport attacks has told of how her daughter fought against the odds

20mph speed limits have shown to massively reduce injuries and deaths. So isn't it time we rolled out sharply lowered speed limits and ULEZ in all urban areas? We need to stop putting the car first, they've taken up too much infrastructure space already and keep wanting more.
