Took me years to realize many authors in the US support their writing addiction by teaching in higher ed.
A reminder that the median book deal for a debut author in the UK is £7000, paid over 12-18 months. (from 2022 Society of Authors report). Some of your favourite writers are struggling. societyofauthors.org/2022/12/06/a....

He was correct then and he's correct now. What America likes to call "socialism" isn't even socialism, it's basic social safety nets that every modern country that isn't The United States has figured out are absolutely necessary for a functioning society and democracy.
Socialism is what they called public power.

Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

Buffoonery
With possible dangerous consequences
DOD contractors “mistakenly” landed on a Mexican beach, declared it US property and planted “restricted area” DOD signs, triggering a tense confrontation with armed Mexican forces.

Mexico removed the signs, insisting the area is theirs.

Yet another example of total incompetence.
