A political action committee called Excellence Minnesota collected a $157,000 war chest to spend in support of right-wing school board candidates across four Minnesota school districts. They are likely to target other races in 2026, legal fellow @ksteinberg29.bsky.social writes.

Absolutely incredible; after shooting Marimar Martinez 5 times and arresting her on claims that she rammed them and pulled a gun, prosecutors have now moved to dismiss ALL criminal charges against her and her codefendant.
New: the govt has moved to dismiss its assault case against Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, two people accused of "box[ing] in" a Border Patrol vehicle in Chicago on Oct. 4.

One agent shot Martinez, with evidence presented to the court that he later bragged about in text messages.

A lot about this doesn't make sense. Are you saying only congressional committees can release relevant news? Also, isn't it your job as a journalist to give us the "context" for this sort of thing?
The emails that you’re seeing now are news in themselves, but that’s because of how they’re coming out—a congressional committee released them—& the context in which they’re being viewed. A guy emailing a reporter talking about old girlfriends or saying someone is “dirty” is not a whole news story.

Still processing the inanity of this cave, like, "We're going to make Republicans go on record that they want to destroy the ACA." You mean the motherfuckers who radicalized in opposition to it & voted to repeal it, like, 22 times? You're finally getting them on record? Really impressed over here

DHS confirmed it has stopped automatically storing officials' text messages.

Instead, officials are supposed to take a screenshot, send that to their work email, download it onto their work computer and run a text-recognition program on it. Every time.

Federal judge saying in open court that ICE and CBP lie so much she simply does not believe them—bc the evidence clearly show they are lying.

And to be clear: this is all too common police culture. Do something wrong, lie to cover it up.

"I don't find defendants' version of events credible."

A nice reminder that the "religious liberty" crusade isn't actually about religious liberty at all.
BREAKING: After ICE refuses to allow detained migrants to receive the Eucharist, Pope Leo calls on Trump and Vance to respect migrants‘ dignity and religious liberty.

“They must allow ministers to assist with their needs. They've been separated from their families and no one knows what happens.”

Absolutely horrifying.

This is maybe the most foundational way systemic racism remained ingrained in America following the abolition of slavery. I refuse to accept this type of dog whistle as legitimate discourse in the United States.

Griem goes there, arguing in response to Justice Jackson that there can be no race-conscious remedy absent a finding of intentional discrimination.

This is the most important politics story in a long time. Twitter has radicalized the young GOP into overt Nazism and white supremacy and the news has spent years pretending not to see.

Zero percent surprised but this is great reporting. Plausible deniability is now finally out the window.
POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.
