Currently rewatching Xena because I found an excellent rewatch podcast. Did I catch the wlw subtext the first time around? Absolutely! Did I miss a whole bunch of other deeply profound stuff because I’d not been in the world long enough yet? Again, absolutely. Anyway, looking for scholarly articles

This is an utterly nonsensical way to report the really relieving news that Plaid Cymru, a party which espouses all sorts of liberal values including trans rights, etc. (and which isn't even mentioned in this headline!!!) won the election by a 47% landslide, well ahead of Reform as well as Labour.
Amazing

Been messing with Google by clicking on ‘not interested’ for every article it’s presented me with. Except for the article in the Golden Spurtle about the Norwegian oats that won the world oats championship. That can stay

I’ve found the podcast Bandsplain where every episode is a 3 or 4 hour long deep dive into the indie/alternative bands of the 80s and 90s and I am IN HEAVEN

Genuinely, in a world going to complete and utter shit THIS is doing my heart and soul so much good

I listen to podcasts like it’s radio and pretty much exclusively at work or when I’m doing chores. Do people who listen to podcasts really want to have to watch on YouTube instead? I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with seeing a podcast but to my mind it performs a complete different function.

She’s enjoying it but I think it’s a bit of an obvious choice tbh. On the other hand, Margaret Atwood next perhaps?…

Hopefully we find a cure and/or a vaccine for neurotypicalism one day. My heart goes out to everyone affected by it 🫶
“The causes of NSD are not yet fully understood. Some people blame environmental factors, or a lack of vaccines, but we do know that genetics play an important part. This means that if you have neurotypical family members, that does place your child at increased risk.”
Every parent’s worst nightmare! Could your child be neurotypical?
Autistic parents have been warned to be vigilant for signs that their child could be afflicted with Neurotypical Spectrum Disorder, or NSD. Speaking in front of a parliamentary group, paediatrician Li...

This story is genuinely so mind-blowing and concerning. Kudos to those who tried their best to hold the two Governments to account whilst be completely gagged.
For 2 years, 2 govts used a secret court to hide the truth: they put 100,000 Afghans at risk of death. They used constitutionally unprecedented methods to prevent reporting.
My reflections on two years on this story and why it must ever happen again.

My two years in secret court: How UK governments hid a national scandal
The government put 100,000 Afghans at risk of death. Then used the force of law in a constitutionally unprecedented way to prevent anyone finding out.

Please don’t ignore this the next time you’re told “it’s either these guys or Reform” coz this is also what Reform would do and you should rail against it no matter what colour the tie is.
Incontrovertible evidence, now, of *police* investigating families supporting their kids with gender affirming healthcare in the UK. For trying to do the best for your child, following best practice in most of the world, here you get a visit from the police.

Thank you, Wes Streeting.

I hate these articles. As though great wealth is the end game. What about someone who came from absolute poverty and now has a stable job, decent house and pays their bills. Stop glorifying the extraordinary- getting to be average and not worrying about bills is massive.
The world is full of get-rich-quick schemes and people who have amassed a lot of wealth with a tremendous amount of help. The only problem is that those stories aren’t relatable and don’t give regular folks hope that they can also become wealthy if they try.
30 Rags To Riches Stories Of Common People Who Rose From Poverty To Great Success

world history in a single post
But apart from some fun spats, things were mostly fine. We sang our songs, we sold our wares, some of us were rich, some of us were poor, some of us tried to sneakily recruit each other, good times.

AND THEN THE FUCKING BRITISH SHOWED UP.
