Restoring Bivens rights: one bill "would allow citizens to sue for damages resulting from constitutional violations committed by federal officers," while the other "would create a cause of action against federal law enforcement agencies and police depts for constitutional violations."
These congressmen want to give you the right to sue federal law enforcement for violating your rights
The proposed bills aim to codify a 1971 Supreme Court ruling that allowed individuals to sue the feds for Fourth Amendment violations.

This isn't far off, and we saw the same thing during the NFT gaming craze.

Big publishers believe they need to say that they're investigating AI to keep investors happy.

Angel investors who invest in small companies are more interested in hitting the AI grand slam than they are in shipping a game.
My conspiracy theory about genAI in games blowing up more and more by big companies is that they’ve all got a ton of investors insisting they use genAI tools otherwise they(investors) won’t be able to bankroll em anymore

Funny how there's apparently no conflict for councilmembers who're landlords voting on tenant protections, or homeowners voting on new housing projects and rezoning actions.

Just for renters who want more homes.
In Santa Monica, the FPPC has disqualified pro-housing Councilmember Jesse Zwick from all future housing votes. They said that because he works for a housing non-profit, he’s “conflicted” and must recuse.

Pretty absurd. The NIMBY deep state strikes again.

What would it cost to end extreme poverty?

"We estimate that reducing the poverty rate to 1% ... would cost $170B nominal per year."

"The results correspond to a cost of (approximately) ending extreme poverty of roughly 0.3% of global GDP."

The Abundance movement often points to environmental groups as the obstacles to building. But who actually files the lawsuits blocking projects? It’s not environmental groups. It’s been lawyered-up HOAs protecting property values all along. Regulation by litigation is the problem.

Yes, but it’s not a “nuclear option.” It’s the most basic, obvious, conventional option available if you want to actually do something effective. The fact that they’re not immediately promising it en masse tells us something, and that something is not good.

The system that created Epstein, protected him, and let him thrive for decades, still exists. His market of powerful monsters still exists, and they're still being protected.

There is definitely, right now, someone serving the same role he did, being protected the same way by the same people.

It’s genuinely disheartening if you work in politics at any level to realize big picture-wise the only realistic plan forward is “waiting for people with the best healthcare known to man to die”
One thing I don't think people appreciate is that the political apparatus is so old that dozens of congress people and senators have weekly doctors visits and require non stop care just to stay alive and it 100% limits the potential for political action through the legislature.

The problem isn't that we can't talk to each other

The marketplace has heard the ideas

Large supermajorities reject them

Yet our anti-democratic political institutions allow the 20-25% that like those ideas to capture & control all the institutions

The problem is the anti-democratic institutions
CNN has a show with a similar line. That the problem with this country is we just aren’t talking to each other.

It’s the kind of diagnosis that a toddler would land on.

"We are going to reverse every renaming, pull down the gold leaf, and rebuild the East Wing" should not be the Democrats' main 2028 plank, but there are worse things to run on. It's one of those visuals you can actually start executing in Week One. Do it, put it on TV, rub it in, hurt some feelings.
