Quantic Foundry does legit trustworthy analysis of gamer behaviour, and these survey results are shockingly negative toward genAI, to the point where I’m more hopeful that data driven mobile and AAA backpedals on their uses.

My conspiracy theory about genAI in games blowing up more and more by big companies is that they’ve all got a ton of investors insisting they use genAI tools otherwise they(investors) won’t be able to bankroll em anymore

Wonderful. British airways cancelled my flight at the gate stating my tickets are fraudulent

Apparently buying 6 months early on their site is a crime now

NEW: For the last seven weeks, Naughty Dog has enacted mandatory overtime for staff to finish an internal demo of their next game, Intergalactic. The game won't be out until 2027, leaving some staff wondering: If they're crunching now, what will next year be like? www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Zootopia 2 is the highest grossing Hollywood movie of the year & Kpop Demon Hunters was Netflix's most popular movie of all time, but fuck animators, am I right? I hate reading about how huge & beloved this stuff is while knowing how hard creators have it & how it still isn't broadly taken seriously

I've befriended a lot of people in my community, and today was another highlight of my efforts.

I've become well acquainted with our Pharmacist.

Today he comes to Lu and I:
"remember when we whined about the vaccines costing people so no one came? well now I'm overbooked because cases rise"

Without exaggeration one of the best and most important films ever made, and also delightfully fun and so funny and gorgeous to look at
In the left-of-center holiday tale “Toyko Godfathers,” animator Satoshi Kon gave dignity to those marginalized by society:

Lol the crazy thing is, no, you’re not running out of good ideas. There are tons of great ideas everywhere. You’re just not willing to fund them because you’re all cowards.

One of the toughest things to develop as a designer is self-awareness and humility in design.

Knowing this [design] has been done before and not being afraid to repeat it but with a perspective of your own. Reinterpreting a game design for your needs to communicate your story.

New Knives out quite good. Manages to neither be sneeringly anti-religious nor doing that tired trope where the arrogant atheists are humbled by simple faith. Actual adult treatment of religiosity that’s kind of rare these days.

I intend to use my profits from the game to fund and uplift creators less privileged than he is. I’ve already begun that effort with the Draknek New Voices Puzzle Grant: grants.draknek.org

See also: BAFTA's "Game Beyond Entertainment", which ends up as a catch-all for games with PoC in them + social impact games. While it's an honour to be nominated for a BAFTA I was utterly baffled that *Thirsty Suitors* a game about fighting your hot toxic exes and wuxia cooking was in this category
On Games for Impact:

“It's good that it's there, but it's also, in a way, kind of insulting. Because giving a special award for a game for actually meaning something or having some human content... we should be aspiring for that in every category."

and even if you believe strongly in the benefits of critical reading, you need to consider why people aren't doing it. do they have ample leisure time? low enough stress for a highly focused activity? access to suitable material? which worldviews are newspapers and best-selling books offering them?
