Started implementing spell mutators today! Mutators are extra effects that can change the way a spell works. It can be subtle, or not so subtle.

Today let's demonstrate modifying the Cone spell to utilize the "Prismatic" mutator, which will randomize the element of each shot!

My niece was at a wrestling competition on livestream and my mom was being a bloodthirsty anime villain about it. I love her

I think it’s important to assume that, in the name of a dying trend, people with this mindset will make their company radioactive as an employment opportunity while slowly ridding it of the humans who gave it meaning to begin with

but I’m just a silly little guy

Super Mario World has an extremely eclectic art style whereby many enemies are drawn in completely different ways. Development files reveal Mario went through many stylistic changes; it is possible that all the enemies were made to fit Mario, but at different points in time.

Game career presentation coming along Nicely

Shoutouts to KOEI, a company that either makes totally mindless action games (lovingly) or the deepest, most mechanically rich sweaty simulation games you’ll ever play outside of Europa Universalis
my opinion on musou today is that more people should play Warriors: Abyss, which is basically what if musou was also vampire survivors/hades, a game where you can play as historical heroes from china/japan and also several magical women from the Atelier series store.steampowered.com/app/3178350/...
WARRIORS: Abyss on Steam
Through victory and defeat, traverse the merciless trials of hell.

I just watched My Dinner with Andre and it’s like if a podcast was a film, except they only talked about Real Things ™️

It’s Clock Tower. It’s not that it does anything particularly surreal or visually horrifying (though such elements are present). Rather, I can think of no other game that cultivates an atmosphere so oppressive by way of the use of deafening silence.

Much of the game is quiet.

Until it isn’t.

Cyclops space dolphin playing with rainbow death energy? Hell yeah. enemy design sure is fun :b (the pink on the sprite will be a chroma-key mask color to show through to a persistent parallax space background. it'll look so cool.)

Still automating room creation but boy has it paid off! With one button press, I bind the camera limits to the room, set entry/exit triggers, generate a chunk-based navigation mesh, generate waypoints for things like spawn zones, movement logic assistance, etc. Then I remove ones not on the navmesh!

Ultimately it's not game prices being too high, but the journey that price tag took to end up that way:

-$100 game (everyone involved is paid fairly and the production process was ethical) - I could buy it!

-$100 game (1/2 team laid off, CEO buys diamond-encrusted hamburger) - kick rocks forever!

Don’t second guess your weird idea when it turns out that it feels weird. Being gutless and walking things back to what is comfortable will butcher the spirit of the thing.
What's your number one personal game design principle? And even better - does it have a cool name?

Happy 30th to one of my all-time favorites! It never came out in the US so most people (myself included) missed out on this one. It's a bold, emotionally punchy, and grand celebration of the human spirit. That message isn't direct, but rather something to be absorbed from the game's atmosphere. 🌎

NES Guerilla War is probably the most fun co-op vertically scrolling walk'em up for the system.

The game had CHARM with its comedic moments.
