gentle reminder that the bomb PR model for doing stuff you know people will hate (bailing on the most popular animation software of all time) is to say you are about to do something people will hate even more (delete all their files too) and then walk it back the next day....
Adobe appears to have reversed course on this. Animate is safe, at least for the immediate future.

Called and spoke with Adobe customer support and the guy told me Adobe is discontinuing Animate because apparently the company can't think of any new features to add to the program and they feel it's gotten stale.
