not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns

ICE has only been around for the last 20+ years, and both parties have used it to violently attack immigrants, increase xenophobia in our culture and mass deport people who are only looking for a better life. it should not exist.

The Department of Linguistics at Michigan is made up of incredible, kind people. I have always been excited to send future PhD students there, including one this year. It’s devastating that high-level UofM admins are willing to capitulate in a way that will make that place worse for so many students
