If you follow my work you know that I often ask my audience to support my journalism. This time, it's different. My fiancee's mother has been diagnosed with stage IV cancer. She's on fixed income and we had to relocate her to Dallas for care. She needs your help.

Frankly, I have always wondered why more campaigns didn't do this. Constituent services are such an important part of good politics.
🧵 Our mutual aid hub has been a HUGE draw for our immense volunteer base, many of whom have never wanted to be involved politics before now.

This model isn’t just about the immediate impacts: It’s about showing our values, building a community, and reaching voters — without selling our soul!
Turning campaigns into mutual aid hubs isn’t good for campaigns or mutual aid! Your campaign manager should be entirely too busy to schlep around 5600 tampons!

Global TV is a low-effort conservative-leaning private network, and this wasn’t “treachery” this was “it was the weekend before Christmas and they just broadcast the episode that was sent to them digitally by CBS on Friday”, no one in the office on the weekend even if CBS tried to warn them

My cannabis curious retired neighbor showed me an edible they purchased at a local dispensary. They asked if I thought it was a good one. The package had five gummies, each with 200mg of THC. I politely told them that if they ate an entire gummy they'd be sent to the nether realms.

This is why it's crucial to provide subjects reasonable amounts of time to respond. I've even given subjects time extensions. But I've never held a story because someone didn't want to respond. And it's hard to imagine that 60 Minutes didn't provide their subjects with adequate time to respond.
I have never, once in my career, heard of a news org responding to a decline-to-comment with, “Well, we’ll hold it until you do.”

The reason is obvious — it gives the subject of your story a pocket veto.
