The UCP has made 2025 one of the darkest years for Alberta’s democracy.

Albertans can turn on the lights in 2026.

By simply being Albertan.

Let me explain. 🧵 open.substack.com/pub/drjaredw...

I really only knew Dr. Darren Markland via social media. But his front line reports from the ER during Covid moved me to tears. His bravery, his compassion, his commitment to patient care, and to the truth, were unparalleled. In the worst of the pandemic, he was the hero we needed. #yeg
The human heart is

The size of a

Fist

Clenched.

Indefatigable, and infallible

On pain of death.

And yet it skips

At the most curious

Times,

To remind us of its finite

Beats.

And perhaps to attend us

To use them both wisely

And with abandon.

Air Canada must have realized they fucked up because CUPE says the company has returned to the bargaining, despite previously saying it wouldn’t negotiate until flight attendants were back on the job.

When I became a Senator, I started flying a lot. Back and forth from Edmonton to Ottawa - not to mention flights to conferences and events. I had never before understood the archaic way that flight attendants are paid. The clock only starts when the airplane door closes. 🧵

1. Pay $80M for Turkish Tylenol ($49M still unaccounted for)
2. Beat the record for measles cases set in 1986, 879 (government website) cases reported since March.
3. Clog up our already overworked, understaffed hospitals with PREVENTABLE ILLNESS.
