We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity. Leaders who can subject their particular egos to the pressing urgencies of the great cause of freedom … a time like this demands great leaders.

Don't know how those journalists in the budget lock up do it. The federal budget is 493 pages, it's dry, and execpt for the odd graph, it's mostly in black and white. It's a slog of a read & I primarily just bookmark paragraphs to which I will return later. To crush it & report on it is something.

Phillips said she will proceed with a $400,000 lawsuit filed against several Lethbridge Police Service members for invasion of her privacy, and some details from the ASIRT investigation may inform her case.

WTI oil price is under $60/bbl. Premier Smith & Finance Minister Horner are probably panicking. Wait for fear & rage filled messages that sound like the sky is falling in the richest province in the country. Expect blame to be placed on the usual suspects: teachers, immigrants, nurses, Ottawa...

Only surprise I have is that Caylan Ford would take her $7 million vengeance lawsuit to Wilson Laycraft since Jason Kenney is an advisor at Bennett Jones. Surely he could've tried to do a solid for her to make up for having to end her candidacy. Kaycee Madu does litigation, could've called him too.
Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

Hello, Calgary... is this thing on? Calgary Police Service's Operation Order was a targeted violation of Calgarians who experience houselessness, use drugs & other substances, live with mental illness, and/or commit petty crime (transit fare evasion is a crime of $3.80 that comes with a $250 fine).
We already know what makes our communities safer, and it's not troops on our streets.

It's giving people accessible housing, food, employment, health care, and education opportunities.

In addition to the $150 million it will get from its cat bond, it can tap $300 million in contingent credit from the Inter-American Development Bank and draw a $92 million payout from a parametric insurance program." 1/
Jamaica’s $150 million cat bond has been the subject of controversy since it failed to trigger last year after Hurricane Beryl destroyed large parts of the island.

I've said it before, I will say it once more. Every city councillor & the mayor in Calgary should have to take transit at a minimum once per week from their residence in the ward to work (i.e.: City Hall) and return home. We would immediately have improved transit service if they were using it. 🚌🚉
🚌🚌My city council and admin colleagues took a ride this morning on a Calgary Transit articulated bus as part of our ongoing orientation sessions.

It was great and informative to visit some key community planning initiatives and future development areas around the city.

Four items are under scrutiny in this sweep:
▪︎ Houselessness
▪︎ Substance use
▪︎ Mental illness
▪︎ Petty crime

Items are often connected & are also often distinct, one item does not determine another condition.

Hopefully we'll hear the statistics soon on how many were housed instead of just ticketed.
