We need leaders not in love with money but in love with justice. Not in love with publicity but in love with humanity. Leaders who can subject their particular egos to the pressing urgencies of the great cause of freedom … a time like this demands great leaders.

A baby died in Alberta due to complications from measles. Long term effects will emerge in 7-10 years. That baby's blood is on the government's hands. Premier Smith's & Minister LaGrange's collective tears aren't enough cleanser to wash their hands clean.

Out damned spot! Macbeth, Act 5, Scene 1.

The damage and devastation at $7B is approximately a third of Jamaica's GDP.

I don't care what they call it, but the Alberta NDP needs to do something different, helpful & compassionate that's not the toxic hellscape we're living in right now because of the Alberta government that's led by Premier Smith. Naheed Nenshi knows how to lead in a way that results in better things.
Albertans want to bring back the Alberta advantage – an affordable life, fairness, and opportunity.

So, @gregmcleanyyc.bsky.social, I hope that you have read Catherine Ford's column, you are mentioned.

Maybe PM @mark-carney.bsky.social will make a bonus announcement and give Prince Rupert, BC safe, clean drinking water tomorrow, too.

1. Charles is 100% correct.

2. Quote: "Reached by phone Tuesday, police association president Andrew Tummonds declined to comment.

“We’re still dealing with our lawyers to see where we’re gonna go,” Tummonds said."

Explanation -- This kind of situation leaves the police union in a 'pickle'. 1/
This is a story you could write from a fill-in-the blanks template in nearly every police service and the RCMP in Canada, right down to the police commission saying they have taken steps to address it. They never do anything. It's been like this for decades.

This all sounds rather familiar.

Policing culture is not one that embraces challenge, criticism, hard questions, equity and inclusion, or truth to power.

The union will actively work to eliminate & undermine visible, vocal, and veracious challengers.

I laugh when I’m asked to give a thumbs up. It’s a joke about my late mother. When she was in ICU, the nurses would say, “give us a thumbs up.” I told them, “don’t ask her to do that, ask her to raise her hand, she thinks thumbs up means ‘up yours’ & she won’t do it.” Classic mother-daughter moment.

Quote from @ctvnewscalgary.bsky.social story: "“A lot of promises made by a lot of these councillors that were hired was the climate fund, right? I believe that’s honestly a waste of money,” said Landon Johnston, councillor for Ward 14."

Councillor Johnston thinks this ⤵️ is a waste of money. Sigh.

Remembrance Day, increasingly for me from childhood, became focused on the music used in the remembrance services as both a chorister and a clarinetist. The music for me, that has always triggered my emotions is Arkwright's "O Valiant Hearts" with the Harris tune.

Don't know how those journalists in the budget lock up do it. The federal budget is 493 pages, it's dry, and execpt for the odd graph, it's mostly in black and white. It's a slog of a read & I primarily just bookmark paragraphs to which I will return later. To crush it & report on it is something.

Only surprise I have is that Caylan Ford would take her $7 million vengeance lawsuit to Wilson Laycraft since Jason Kenney is an advisor at Bennett Jones. Surely he could've tried to do a solid for her to make up for having to end her candidacy. Kaycee Madu does litigation, could've called him too.
Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

Hello, Calgary... is this thing on? Calgary Police Service's Operation Order was a targeted violation of Calgarians who experience houselessness, use drugs & other substances, live with mental illness, and/or commit petty crime (transit fare evasion is a crime of $3.80 that comes with a $250 fine).
We already know what makes our communities safer, and it's not troops on our streets.

It's giving people accessible housing, food, employment, health care, and education opportunities.
