So at PLC on service today and seeing most two-bed rooms housing three patients, having to take a patient in the washroom to perform a history with privacy as their bed is among a line of them along the ward hallway. Not special for Alberta but new for me in Calgary @pfparks.bsky.social

Hey ABs: do you have 8000/mnth to put a parent in private continuing care? That’s a REAL COST.
Start saving… it’s only going to get worse.

Yes, those costs paid by the family too.
It was a placement by AHS. The only option given was this facility. It was this or you go on a long list that may take years.
(Also, may be of interest to some, one private continuing care facility in Sherwood Park,AB is $8000 per month.)

This has been building for years, but this explains why more and more of our parents/grandparents are being stranded in Hospitals...
and why Access Block is growing.

Soon there will be no arms length checks and balances on this govt…
Not even hiding the blatant entitlement anymore.

This is the reality for too many AB seniors. You built this province, paid your taxes, and now you are abandoned & charged out-of-pocket, separated in a hospital that can't help. The LTC shortage is a betrayal. Fund Continuing Care now! #SystemFailure #ABHealth #ABleg #ABpoli
Real ED Case in AB 🧵 :
Elderly couple 91 and 92yo, living in their own home caring for each other. Slowly declining, as one has worsening dementia, and they can no longer live on their own anymore.
No beds to place them in continuing care from the community
