We need to look at the REAL EVIDENCE, and the REAL EXPERIENCE... and stop accepting CANNED govt speaking points as a reasonable answer.

This isn't about if you vote right or left.. its about are we getting HC right in this province? Are we on the right trajectory?

Driving the workforce to more disintegrated private facilities is only going to make things worse.

Currently timely lifesaving care is not always there when you need it... is our govt making things better or worse?

Govt keeps promising more private Surgical facilities, and UCCs, and Testing centres but has NO PLAN to ensure we can adequately staff our hospitals that are needed to do the life saving care for the illness that can kill you!

Our hosp staffing is already struggling

Govt has a "Health Workforce Strategy" which is a piece of paper at best... but they can't tell ABs who is trying to do the coordinated work.
Current Acute Care leads - they admit no one body doing this for the entire HC system. (Same for Primary Care Org)

ABs should be paying attention to this! HC experts have been begging and pleading for a concerted provincial workforce plan and ACTION since this govt took power.
With disintegration and FOUR ministries, it is even more important than ever.

But no one is doing it!

Q: But "The Health Workforce Strategy does not identify an instrument for workforce planning within the health ministries"... and how can you tell a UCC woudn't impact ED staffing? Also what about nursing shortages?
A: we have a Health Workforce Strategy

Q: concern a UCC would rob staff from our already understaffed hospital, how are you planning to address that?
A: govt talking point: Alberta has more docs than ever
Q: but are they working in the EDs? can you staff you EDs currently?
A: we have a Health Workforce Strategy

Promise of a UCC in a regional area questions:
Q: who is advising this is a good idea, what workforce planning has been done, and how will it be coordinated w the complex care already happening in the area?
A: govt talking point: we prioritize all of this, but can't say how

We used to do so much better Alberta.

Is HC on the right track in Alberta? Will it be there for you and your loved ones when you need it?

You don't konw what you had until its gone...

Issues:
- ED closures in the first place
- no transparency or reporting to the community
- EMS delays as they are transporting pts greater and greater distances
- no coordinated workforce plan to address these shortages
- the suffering of ABs due to Access Block

Thankfully this young Albertan survived, but there are concerns he may have some lasting brain damage from the delays to accessing life saving care.

Keep in mind, this was NOT a tiny rural community in AB. This was an area that regularly has an ED (e.g. >7000 people)

All of the EMS crews are dispatched on calls, or transporting pts 100s of KM away to the nearest hospitals.

By the time EMS is able to respond the pt is in an extreme condition and no longer able to talk or respond.
