OH MY GODD
Sometimes you run across an old quote that stops you cold. From a Jayson Stark article in January 2000:

If your claim to fame is trading Scott Kazmir for Victor Zambrano, you probably shouldn’t be allowed to make hypothetical trades.

…but the Mets should absolutely do this in my completely unbiased opinion

Ah, I see we are officially in “failsons open their mouths and say something out of touch” season
“Help restore pride in our brand” is certainly a way to say that you hope to build a winning team.

Verona, Wisconsin’s own World Series winner
Reds claimed catcher Ben Rortvedt off waivers from the Dodgers

Wasn’t on 40-man roster until September, then started 19 of 25 games behind the plate, including first four games of postseason as Will Smith’s hand healed

Tied for team lead in sacrifice bunts. Wild ride for Benny Biceps

Based on those released emails, man, some people suck at writing. Sentences are a thing. Punctuation is a thing. I get you're all busy doing crimes, but take some pride in your writing.

If I got any of those messages, my first instinct would be to reply "rewrite this like a grown-up."

BRING BACK CHANNEL NUMBERS!

I wrote about how YouTubeTV and others have rewired how we watch TV.

Without channel numbers, we don't flip as easily, which means more ads, reliance on algo based suggested tiles, and we don't realize when channels go dark.

Boras’ pun game has been slipping for awhile now, it’s always sad to see legends lose their fastball. He used to be entertaining, now all he does is Bor-us
Boras on Bregman in Boston: “Nobody wants a Bregs-it.” He then weaved a lengthy explanation about Dunkin and Starbucks into his description of Bregman providing the right blend in “Beantown.”

Holy hell, good work, Moo U
Wisconsin-River Falls has the most prolific offense in the country, nearly 600 yards per game. They beat powerhouse Wisconsin-Whitewater 52-14, for the first time since 2001.

Meet 32-yr-old OC Joe Matheson and his Top Gun offense, one of CFB's best stories.

This screams Brewers to me after their work with Priester
Wrote about Dustin May's free agency, mostly because I can't get over the fact that he's got six years of service time already
In Order to Save Dustin May, We Must Destroy Him
There’s nothing major league GMs love more than a guy they can fix.

Jameis is 1000% beating the Packers
More changes for the Giants: Jameis Winston is elevated to No. 2 QB and expected to start Sunday in the event Jaxson Dart doesn’t clear the concussion protocol, per The Insiders.

Winston was moved ahead of Russell Wilson, as interim coach Mike Kafka informed them.

In an era where it can be harder than ever to discern a manager's value with so many in-game decisions being streamlined, you could see Pat Murphy's fingerprints all over the Brewers this year.

That's why he's a two-time Manager of the Year.

So glad @alexkirshner.com is on this one. Rodney Peete talked at length on 570AM the other day specifically about prop bets being an easy way to tip out your inner circle without it costing you a nickel. And that they are the biggest problem in the betting universe.

I went deeper into the at-bats where Luis Ortiz is accused of throwing balls on purpose.

1) These pitches didn't just compromise games. They helped flip them. Twice.

2) It's the player props, man

3) This is NOT a case where legal sports betting improved the situation slate.com/technology/2...
A Huge Scandal Is Rocking Baseball. Here’s What Needs to Change.
The indictments of two major league pitchers are just the clearest examples yet of the scourge of the prop bet.

This remains one of the most impressive athletic feats ever.
"The Wingmen" by Adam Lazarus is an excellent account of Ted's time in Korea flying with John Glenn. It's amazing that Ted was an All-Star in '51 then flew combat missions in 52-53 before coming back to hit .345/.513/.635 in '54 at the age of 35.
