"College" sports everybody!
Charles Bediako, a former Alabama basketball player, has sued the NCAA in an attempt to return to the floor for the rest of this season.

His basketball history includes:
◽️ Two seasons at Alabama (2021-2023)
◽️ Going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft

Red Sox have completed their deal with Ranger Suarez and will introduce him tomorrow morning.

Andruw Jones predicted Kenley Jansen would be the next Hall of Famer from Curacao.

Jones, of course, is the first one.

Omar Vizquel reached 52.6 percent in 2020. Steady plunge to 18.4 percent with one year left.

425 votes cast, up from 394 last year. Average of 5.77 per ballot. 11 blanks were cast.

A blank ballot is allowed. But with admission based on a percentage of votes, that's essentially voting against candidates.

To me, we're asked to vote for candidates, not against them.

Cole Hamels the only first-year candidate to move on. No surprise there.

The Hall is often a process. Andruw Jones was at 19.4 percent after three years. Dustin Pedroia is at 20.7 percent after two.

It'll be interesting to see how his candidacy develops.

Pettitte gaining 20.6 percent and Hernandez 25.5 percent very notable, too.

Dustin Pedroia jumps from 11.9 percent to 20.7 percent.

Carlos Beltrán and Andruw Jones are now Hall of Famers.

Manny Ramirez falls off the BBWAA ballot after 10 years.

Cliff Floyd interviewing Carlos Beltrán on MLB Network.

Beltrán joined the Mets in 2005. Fun team to cover with Cliff, Mike Cameron, Mike Piazza, Pedro Martinez, Tom Glavine, Jose Reyes, David Wright, etc. Only 83-79 though.

Looking at our most-viewed stories on bostonglobe.com yesterday. Of the top 10, eight are sports -- six on the Pats, one on the Celtics, and one on the Sox. Nine different bylines (one story has two.)

Pretty decent sports town you've got here.

Latest in our "Around The Horn" series on the Red Sox roster is third base.

It's not Alex Bregman, that much is known. From there, it's uncertain:

Signing Eugenio Suárez is easiest way to fill void at third base, but Marcelo Mayer is Red Sox’ best in-house option - The Boston Globe
The 34-year-old free agent slugger is the obvious pick from outside, but the talented Mayer might be the smarter choice.

Caleb Williams threw that pass with both feet in the air and two defenders in his face and it was a dime. That's some kind of arm strength.

The Texans-Patriots game was objectively a train wreck, result aside. But the NFL playoffs have generally been fantastic to watch this season.

Condolences to the family and friends of Wilbur Wood. The Cambridge native died Saturday at 84. The knuckleballer played 17 seasons and won 164. games. The three-time All-Star was with the Red Sox from 1961-64 but had his most success with the White Sox.

Understanding most people read our stuff on the web, the print Sunday Globe sports section has 26 staff bylines today. Great to see.

A digital subscription includes the tablet version of the last edition of the print paper. Easy to use, too.

I will not be because it would be mostly cursing at the officials and yelling, "Come on, Drake!."

LFG!

Ryan Pressly announced his retirement after a 13-year career that included 117 saves, 47 postseason appearances, two All-Star Games, one WBC, and a ring with the 2022 Astros.

Red Sox drafted him in 2007. Rule 5 pick of the Twins in 2012 and he took off from there.

Good for him. Great career.

A family of hitters: Red Sox prospect Mikey Romero is following the example set by his sisters. Enjoyed writing this for the Sunday Baseball Notes.

Plus plenty on the Sox and a lost World Series ring from 2004:

It's funny that visiting teams had no gym at Fenway back then so they walked across the street to work out.
So much for revisiting the story about Bo Bichette's parents meeting at the old Gold's Gym on Lansdowne St. 😀
